Arghh, ok so this is the second time this has happened to me...

Before installing itunes:

Iphone connected to my PC, everything worked fine...

After installing itunes:

I connected the phone, all the drivers were discovered and during the "Found digital still camera" part windows crash into a blue screen...

After rebooting windows I had to check for a disc inconsistency...

The exact same thing has happened to me in the past, I had a solution which solved the problem but caused major other problems....

Anyone else ever experienced this and if so any solutions?

Setup:
iphone 3G 8GB
Firmware: 3.1
OS: Windows XP
Itunes 9(But the first time it happened I used a previous version)

Any help would be appreciated.

Blue screen is probably bad memory, run a memory test.

I bought a 16GB 3GS on bidorbuy for R4.5k, less than a month old (22/8/2009 purchase date)...:D:)

My 1st experience with iPhone, safe to say I am an ex Nokia fanboi now...

iPhone interface and OS is just so refreshing in relation to Nokia's Symbian.

Everything works, the virtual K/B is the most responsive and accurate I've ever experienced and when one does get it wrong the auto correct function does the trick 90% of the time, it's bloody marvelous!!!

Wifi sync effortless, yahoo and skype apps loaded and functioning effortlessly, email sync to gmail and yahoo account functioning effortlessly, mms, sms etc etc etc what a wonderful device!!!!

Installed a few arbitre 3rd party apps like dstv guide, news24, times, yahoo, skype and they all perform as they were designed to.

I never seen so many 3rd party apps written for a device before, I think I'll enjoy the iPhone the way it's inventors intended it to be enjoyed and then delve into the lovely world of 3rd party apps...

What i don't like, very little... battery life isn't particularly good but then I can't put the thing down so that might explain that. SMS character counter is a must for me as is delivery report. Wish that was standard, will have to get the SMS app...

Glad you loving it. I've have LOADS of phones before (used to work in the industry). Must admit that the iPhone is definitely the nicest phone I have EVER had!!! Love it :D:D:D

Just pulled the trigger on the Navigon South Africa app - only found two reviews so far, one for 1 star and a second for 4 stars - so I hope the first guy was just a negative person!

Anyone else tried it out yet?

Please let us know how you find it. I want to buy it myself... Maybe you can buy it and upload the IPA for us :)

I have just joined the forum, and desperately need some help. I am really frustrated. I purchased a new factory unlocked Iphone 3GS from Cellucity, and put my MTN simcard in it (I am on an MTN contract), activated it, registered etc. I could not get a signal, so I took it to an istore, and the guy put his Vodacom sim card in, andf it worked. I then put my MTN sim card in, and it worked. However, since then it has worked sporadically with MTN for a bit, but I now struggle to get a signal. When I turn it on, it spends a long time searching, and then shows "No Service". I move outside, go to another area, and still nothing happens. I turn it on and off a few times and then for no reason, I get an MTN signal. I then loose it again for no apparent reason. I have 3G MTN sim card, have set it to look for the MTN network and not automatic on settings. Please can someone tell me if I have not done something I should have, or am missing some settings, or what the possible reason could be.

What FW are you on? Have you tried to do a restore of the phone?

I upgraded to 3.1. I have not tried a reset. Should this fix the problem? How do I do this? Will I lose any info if I do.

Got my iPhone now :)
White 16GB 3GS running 3.0.1 JB and Unlocked :) I am very happy with it. It came with a free screen protector so quite happy :) Overall GREAT experience. Just need to get myself a candy shell! Anyone suggest apps(not games) I should DL from cydia/app store. I have SBSettings and Bosspaper already- want those kinds apps.
Thanks

I would also like to know if it's good. My finger is itching as well. :)

yeah i see that.
anyway i managed to get it working again, dried it out all night in a ziploc with silica granules, blow dried with the gf's hairdryer for a few minutes this morning and everything seems to be fine!

Time to look for a waterproof case.......:erm:

Let us know how long it lasts for? My Samsung last 4 months after it's episode with the spin cycle in the washing machine :) When I took it in the internals were a corroded mush (I did the same trick that you did, with drying it out.)

Just tried that paper stand but It just collapsed.. think I bought the wrong type.. will go down to CV tomorrow to buy 270g paper/card

Must admit - pretty cool!! Think I'll add my review just now.
I haven't used any of the other GPS apps on the iPhone (obviously), but compared to GPS apps on other phones, Navigon ROCKS!!!
What amazing graphics! I love how it zooms in and out of the map depending on the speed you driving :D:D
