already got this.. doesnt let you switch between tasks!

It does man! Go and read the howto... In short, just hold in the home button and it will pop up a list with all the opened applications. I think you can even add favorites and then select them form the list even if they aren't open. Can't test this now, my iphone is out or order for 2 more days (I applied bodyguardz and now i have to leave it for 72 hours, but it does look awesome!)

is there a user community that maintains poi's for navigon? specifically traffic cameras etc?

Currently you cannot add your own poi's, but I think its coming with their "fresh services" which will be released later on....so....keep within the speed limit you speed demon

2.0 TFSI.... its difficult to keep in the speed limit :(

does anyone know if any of the gps apps have the speed cameras as POI's? the way my garmin does?

Does anyone know of a good task manager? so I can switch between apps while leaving the other open?

and for that matter, why do you want to background in the first place? you have a 3gs, the load times are quick enough that backgrounding really doesn't make much diffs, your task manager is the springboard, apps tend to resume when re-executed anyways

Well I've tried sygic, tomtom and navigon (ok tomtom is the hacked one, so there is no map support), and so far there have been no traffic poi's. Think its a bit difficult to maintain community wise that is, because the only way to update the app is through the app store, and I don't think apple will allow anything like that.

On the point on POI's, navigon has the coolest little 3d pics for its poi's, stuff like macdonalds displays the golden arches, toyota displays the little toyota emblem and so on, but on the bad side (for us 3g users), it does take a rather large chunk of memory when you fire it up, so I am currently weighing the option of uninstalling winterboard (as I basically only use transparent dock), load lockinfo and its themes manually and see what happens

Reading the feedback on the AppStore it seems that the Navigon maps are outdated. How out of date are they? Does anyone know if/when the newer maps will be distributed?

On which review does it state that for south africa? So far I have not had a problem, and they officially state that Version 1.2.0 has the latest navteq map material.

But I'll probably only realize this when I drive of a cliff somewhere that is of course not clearly marked on the map

Good news guys! Getting the 3GS in a week! Old man just called says he picking me one up in Dubai. R7000+- for a 32GB.

Been out the 3G/3GS game way too long! Gonna be back in business :p

:D

are you not going to run into the same problems as the other guys with non-factory unlocked units?

I saw it on the SA AppStore. The comments were all about Ver 1.2.0. Posted from the 22 Sept onwards.

Ah ok, sorry, don't use the SA appstore, but like I've said, so far I've not had any issues with incorrect maps from navigon
