OK... I noticed that I cannot send mms'e using the standard messaging app on OS 3.1... I can receive just fine...

Anyone else having problems with mms using the standard messaging app? PCsToGo?

I had a problem, until I sent myself a MMS via Vodacom4U. After receiving that I could then send MMS, seems like the Vodacom network needs a wake up call every now and then

mms working fine for me, vc-vc on jb 3.1 3gs, using native app.

Wierd... Well, mms also doesnt work on my parner's new iPhone 3GS. He has OS 3.0. He can receive mms in the native app, but not send, just like myne thats on OS 3.1... So I guess it's not the iPhone, must be vodacrap related I'm releaved... back to swirlyMMS...

O btw... I have the tettering option in my network settings after upgrading to 3.1. Havent tested it yet

MMS Works fine when you disable 3G

standard message app of an iPhone with vodacom sim can only receive mms from vodacom, not any of the others, I suggest disable mms in settings and get swirlymms on cydia

to answer Jasonbot, tether and mms have absolutely nothing to do with jailbreak, never have, both work out of the box with OS3.1 and up, don't ask questions here that google can answer

sure will shame about the OTB jailbreak not realsed yet but i'm sure even stock it will keep me busy for a while

Was a Nokia fanboi for so long and at every oportunity I would knock Apple but I've had my 3GS for about 2 months now and it's without a shadow of doubt the best phone I've ever owned!!!!!!!

My phone is not network locked but neither is it jailbroken. Does this make sense?

Also connecting it to iTunes it automatically upgraded to the new firmware. I gather this was an epic fail on my behalf if I have any intention of loading cydia I'm not able to now using this firmware....?

Having said that how much better can this phone get? It doesn't want for anything so is there really an advantage to be gained out of cydia and the apps it supports?!!

Yeah blackra1n is for 3.1/3.1.2 and 3.1OTB (out the box).

My understanding is Cydia is only available on jailbroken phones and I cannot jailbreak a 3GS running 3.1 firmware. Have I got this right?

Also you can "trial" full appstore apps out before buying them

that's a win, my 3 year old daughter has already insisted on 4 different aquariums and about 8 talking animal apps!!!! She loves this thing almost as much as I do....

510 pages is a lot to absorb but I guess if I'm really to understand the intricacies of jailbreaking I'm going to have to wade through it.... Duck me...

mine is factory unlocked too. Doesn't make a difference in terms of jailbreak.

Jailbreak allows you to "test" games before you buy.. but if you like it.. support the makers and buy it
Once blackra1n is released, do you think its worth me upgrading to proper 3.1 then JB or stay on my current 3.1 JB?

How are you guys protecting your 3GS? Especially with this plastic back (black), don't wanna scratch it.

Any nice slim covers you guys can recommend? Or those protective films for front and back? I've got a film for the front but want to protect the back.
