Makes me want to jailbreak again in defiance, actually that is what I will do... have not jailbreaked since the last update.
 
I'm still new to all the iPhone tech talk, so please excuse any ignorance on my part!

I'm super excited about OS 4, but after the issues with the iPhone 3Gs firmware in the past (mine came with 3.1.2) I'm still unsure whether or not I should upgrade.

Am I gonna screw things up by doing so? Also, does OS 4 allow us to install non Apple app's or do we still have to jailbreak as with the previous versions?

OS4 just got announced a few days away, it will only officially come out in June/July (I think) so no need to worry about anything for a good while still. Only people should really touch the new version are the application developers and the really brave.
You will always need to Jailbreak if you want to install "non-Apple" apps. As to the JailBreak on v4, it has been reported it has been done but doubt you will see anything public until the OS is officially available as final release to the public.

haha, just going through the old posts, I was really pissed about this, but tether works great now.

Thanks fxit for keeping this going! I want to jailbreak again since I'm out of the loop.

Thanks for the insight! I can't wait for the official release because it's super frustrating not being able to safely jailbreak, especially with the problems that arise if I had to mess things up and need to restore my 3Gs

Try using a US based email account like a free hotmail or gmail account.

Or check your junk mail folder.

The SA based email servers i find usually take longer (well the free ones anyways). Usually about a day
 
Ok, so I'm out of luck with my 3G iPhone when iPhone OS 4 gets released (multitasking), but I'll bet my bottom dollar a new iPhone is on it's way.....and my Vodacom contract is getting closer to two years. Shcweet!
 
yup, the next iphone should be best yet with apple processor, front facing camera and who knows what else.. exciting.

The rumours are running wild! :)

I've even heard about a dual-core CPU for the next iPhone. Scary.
