Exactly!. dev-team ftw, I always supported them even with all the blackrain hoopla.

quick question.
i have a 3GS. i used blackrain to jailbreak it a few months ago when we were still on 3.2 or whatever it was.
i did my update to ios4 two nights ago. so now my phone is fresh and obviously none of my jailbreak apps work.

I hear that dev team just made pwnage tool4.0 and using that i can jailbreak my 3GS now.
but what's all this about baseband? are they referring to iphone's that need to be unlocked to work on any network?

what do i need to do to get my copied apps to work again? should i use pwnage tool and just jailbreak it? or should i wait for blackrain redrain pink snow what ever they use to jailbreak it?

sorry, i managed to jailbreak last time by fluke.

computer literate: yes
iphone/hacker literate: no at all
 
Some iPhones are network locked, eg the ones in USA. South African iPhones are not, they are unlocked, so don't worry about unlocking.

Jailbreak = install apps from anywhere, not just app store.
Unlock = allow your locked iPhone to work on another network.

when i check all these sites regarding pwnage tool etc, everyone's on about basebands and stuff like that.
just freaks me out hahaha.

so i guess now that i'm running ios4 on 3GS fresh, i have to wait for a jailbreak tool for that?
it seems the new pwnage tool only works when upgrading a jailbroken 3.1.2 to jailbroken ios4?
 
iBooks runs like a dog on my 3G iPhone. WTF?? Another Apple plot to get me to move to the iPhone 4?

Anyone else tried to jailbreak iOS4 on iPhone 3GS with Pwnage? I keep getting a 1604 Error in iTunes....

For now, reverting to stock firmware. Missing LockInfo already :(

Stick to Stanza - you can get maaaaany more books for that for free on usenet. I could'nt wait for the iPhone 4 and got the 3GS - running like a dream - everything!

Don't know the bootrom but its not JB and I got it 2 weeks ago so I assume it has the new bootrom. I'm not jailbraking again - tends to influence the performance.
 
Ok.... new IOS4 was fun... but back to 3.1.2 for me ....
My need for a few apps is just to great and this IOS4 is not helping ... (Iblacklist,sms delivery report, to name a few) , so Ill downgrade and wait till they are availible and working on IOS4 (and JB) before i upgrade again
 
I'm doing the same, rolling back to 3.1.2 as I type, IOS4 was o.k. but I need my apps too work :)
 
Ok, so multitasking on iOS 4 for 3G users is a no go (unless you jailbreak, that is).
Well, I just found a multitasking API that is supported on the 3G!! Local notifications!!!! Flippen awesome :D
Tried it with NotifyMe2 - they now support online cloud-based notifications as well as local notifications. Even tested it with my iPhone 3G on airplane mode and the (local) reminder came though :)

blackra1n does pwn, spirit does not, i was on blackra1n'd 3.1.2 and went to 4.0 GM, no on iPhone4 hoping they'll release a jailbreak :) but i must say, i don't miss the jailbreak much, only really used it for sbsettings and quickreply, multitasking now takes care of both of those, you can flip back to settings with no need to wait for it to load, same for messages

only works if your device is already jailbroken by something other than spirit before you do the restore
