I would've thought that they would target Brown cos Vidic and Ferdinand are tough to get through, but yet we still have an excellent defence. We conceded 2 against Middlesbrough. So what? It happens. More importantly, it happens once in a blue moon. You can't blame Brown for United conceding 2 especially since Ferdinand and Vidic were absent and those are the areas they exploited. Or maybe you expect Brown to run around the whole backline defending, doing every defender's job. Brown can only defend on the right cos that's where he is placed. He can't leave that position and run around to defend other areas, cos then he's position is vacant and then he needs to depend on midfielders to do his qualified job. It's different for a midfielder who can run around the whole place and do defending(cos he knows that the defenders are in their place), but a defender needs to be on his spot, marking his man otherwise teams will get through and score. Imagine if everyone just started running around and defending randomly. We would sit in the bottom half of the log. Anyway, like you said, you don't like the guy so nothing we say would ever satisfy you. That's my last say on the matter.

Seems the United camp in this thread is divided 2-2 as to whether Wes Brown is a) shyte and needs to go or b) actually very good and underrated. :D
 
So a lot of under-par performances but for me Brown was non-existent when he came upfield, which was often.

Giggs and Scholes were both poor, again.

Ronaldo had a quiet game but still created our best chances.

Tevez was pretty poor throughout except for the goal.

Nani looked good. We have missed him.

Evra was solid as well.

Ferdinand and Vidic, for once, were not great.

The ref was absolutely shocking.

Rooney plans revenge mission
United striker keen to win the league at Chelsea

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has set his sights on winning the Premier League title at the home of rivals Chelsea next weekend, live on Sky Sports 1.
United travel to Blackburn on Saturday knowing that three points at Ewood Park could allow them to retain their top-flight title with a victory away to Chelsea the following week.

That would allow United to avenge their 3-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge in 2006, which sealed the league silverware for Chelsea.

And Rooney - who suffered a broken metatarsal in that game - is keen to erase the bad memories of two years ago, but the England forward admits he would also welcome securing the title at Blackburn, if that is possible scenario.

"If it was possible to win it at Blackburn, we'd take that," Rooney said. "But if we can win at Chelsea it would be great for everyone at the club, especially the fans.

"We know that if we win our next two games then we are champions and it's something that all the players are ready for.

"It's always nice to win against one of your closest rivals, and to win at Stamford Bridge would be brilliant.

"Another benefit would be that we could then rest a few players in the last two games if we have got through to the final of the UEFA Champions League."

To reach that final, United must first overcome Barcelona and Rooney cannot wait for Wednesday's semi-final first leg trip to Camp Nou.

But the 22-year-old is wary of the attacking threat of the Catalan giants as United bid to reach their first Champions League final since they lifted the trophy in 1999.

"Barcelona are one of the best teams in the world and I'm sure it will be a fantastic game between two entertaining teams," Rooney continued.

"It is going to be one of the best semi-finals you could see, with some great attacking football. They have so many unbelievable players - (Thierry) Henry, Ronaldinho, (Lionel) Messi, Xavi, (Samuel) Eto'o - the list goes on."

Meanwhile, Rooney has hailed his United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo as the greatest player to grace English football since the Premier League began.

"He has not just been the best player of the last two seasons, he's the best player the Premier League has ever seen," Rooney added.

"Cristiano is rightly talked about as the best player in the world. I was surprised he didn't get the world player award last season. He's got to get it this time."

Let me swing it in favour of Brown. I agree he is not the best, but like a striking partnership, one needs a solid defensive one too. The United Backs understand each other and their contribution to the success of united this season, has been a collective one. Yes, with Neville and Silvestre absent most of the season, things could have been different for Brown in the sense of him being mostly benched. (hence him playing his ace card of getting a new contract now)

yeah those stats mean shyte. The fact of the matter is Brown gives possession away that causes opposition to score. He has no quality to run the flanks and provide brilliant crosses ( like GN) which is what our team needs.

All my United supporting mates agree with me too ;)

I admit being in the minority when it comes to not rating Anderson, but Brown really is just a cost.
