This is a repeat post of what I posted in the Premiership footy thread by accident.

Ah Scholes scholes scholes...my personal vendetta with him runs deep! Almost as deep as my other vendetta against Waylon Murray

I am of the unsubstantiated opinion that United should be run as a successful business empire. We should look to sell Ronaldo in the medium term and rake in the huge profits - buy another player and develop him up. One could go further to say Ronaldo is hurting certain players performances, for example: Rooney. He hasn't been square for a while.

Edit: For Catch21's sake --> by 'unsubstantiated' I meant different viewpoint, not one I necessarily hold true.. but different nonetheless and worth debating.

I know this game is about passion - please do not rip my post to shreds :P I'm Man Utd through n through :)

I am also of the opinion that Brown is definitely not ready to play in the big leagues just yet. He is rather short sighted in his style but thats because of lack of experience.

Only agree with you on Brown. What you say about running the club is a business is

Lol, read the context I wrote it in again. The original comment came from a fellow united supporter in jest but it appealed to my intrinsic capitalist nature :) I wrote it to show a different side.

To contrast: - my -substantiated- opinion is that Ronaldo is godlike.

Regardless, all EPL clubs are run as business's. This is evident when you have "shareholders, board of directors, co-owners, owners" etc

Hmmm, I am not sure if that is much better :p :)

funny how brown you say brown is inexperienced yet he is part of the best defence in the league :)

i cannot believe he makes mistake's every game he plays in

sure he makes mistakes but then vidic and ferdinand proved this weekend that so do they :)

He is poor in defence and provides nothing at all in attack.

It's not his job to attack. Only to defend.

wow , i have to agree with every word you have just said.

Why am I not surprised?

I agree.

I wish Rooney can stop wasting so many opportunities, that will really help in killing of teams early and put fear in the opponents.

I agree with you!

I agree.

I agree with you!

I realise he is meant to defend and not attack, but in today's game wingers are meant to contribute something going forward.

Evra does it just fine down the other wing. Neville G does it to perfection in Brown's place.

Having brown there means that there are three defenders NOT doing anything attacking, which means that the entire right side of United's attack is severely weakened.

And any, he clearly does get forward a lot and attack, he just does not do it well.

I can agree that he is not a attacking defender(oxymoron?). Evra does that pretty well. The down side to this is that if defenders are attacking, it means they are moving out of place and clogging the midfield/wing positions and if they are out of position, well...you know the rest.

I agree. But United do not have a lot going forward on the right, which is exactly where Brown should add support, but he doesn't. Which means that the whole right side is useless and we are on the back foot because opposing teams can exploit us on that side.

see i think gary neville crosses really poorly
i actually used to wish he never made the runs up field only to hit a poor cross and then put our defence on the backfoot with a counter attack because he is out of position

if evra is out of position he normally has vidic ferdinand covering

who will cover for brown should his attack go wrong and he finds himself out of position

another thing is if brown is so freakin useless why dont teams attack him more?

i would rather have brown concentrating on the defending than on attacking

evra does just fine and i dont think we need more attack minded defenders

Gary neville learnt his crossing from David Beckham - you telling me his crossing was poor?

Teams do attack him, and he looks poor. Look, he is not a terrible defender, he just isn't great. I can think of a ;lot of defenders in the Prem i'd have before W Brown, attacking or otherwise.

look no matter how u look at it

united have the best defence in the league and brown has started in just about all the games

man united have just extended his contract

basically if you look at the cold hard facts u will see that ppl may think brown is a weakness but look at goals conceded and look at where we are in the premier league

i would not replace brown when we have the best defence in the league and he is part of the back 4

Bring back Neville G and you will see what a real right back is meant to look like ;)

Lol ok Brown is obviously not in the same class as Neville and co, but I think he is doing a good job. Like any defender, he will make errors. Evra is the only defender who goes forward. It's a nice to have but I personally don't think defenders should go forward. That's why we have wingers and midfielders. Defender should defend. Anyway, the title is ours come Saturday :D

Problem is that defenders don't just defend any more. Look at how many goals Terry got last season and how many Lescott has this season. They have to contribute to the team's attack in some way.

But anyway, Saturday is going to be huge!

But those are probably from corners, in which case Brown is a part of anyway. I can't wait for Wednesday, then Saturday! WOOHOO!
I wonder if United will sign any new players for the next season. I think we need another genuine striker. What do you guys think?

I think we need a new right back!! :)

Ya, almost forgot about Wednesday! Gonna be hectic. I think we'll win it this time.

As for who we should really buy in the summer - another good striker, maybe two - other than that I am quite happy with the squad. We have fairly good cover in most positions.

If Giggs and Scholes finally go, then we need a bit more cover in their positions, maybe another midfielder to cover for Nani if he gets injured cos Hargreaves/Carrick/Anderson are very similar players for me and Park is not really good enough.

Lol yeah I agree. I heard that United are still after Berbatov. If they can get him... He is an awesome striker.

united will sign players

remember there is also that black african oke from angola who looks a legend in the making

maybe they take him off loan duty

united will buy more players im sure

not sure we need them, if united could get nani a full time spot i fear for the rest of the EPL

ronaldo rooney and nani running at a defence would scare the kuk outta me :)
