The Middle East Conflict Thread

OK then, as the elected government that is ordering rockets to be fired into Israel they must accept that this is a declaration of war on israel. The obvious result is that israel retaliates and attacks palestine until it is destroyed. Israel is under no obligation to spare civilians as it was them who elected the government that attacked israel.

When Japan attacked the US in WW2 the result was that the US retaliated until Japan was destroyed. Thats the way it works.

Good point, but where it fails is that Palestine is not a state, so war cannot technically be declared on it, it is not a state because Israel is occupying their land beyond Israel's borders, If it was a State then they wouldn't be launching rockets.

Actually bra thats how it works

LOL. He probably said that to get the red necks to vote for him. Idiots.
So he did say it but now you chose to call him a man of straw, but were full of admiration before

“If somebody was sending rockets into my house, where my two daughters sleep at night, I’m going to do everything in my power to stop that,” he told reporters in Sderot, a small city on the edge of Gaza that has been hit repeatedly by rocket fire. “And I would expect Israelis to do the same thing.”

So are you suggesting he'll retract this statement?

Well then the palestinian region has a government which must still take responsibility for its actions.

If hamas were smart they would realise that they are not capable of doing any real damage to israel whereas israel is capable of wiping palestine off the map. The sooner hamas realises this the sooner there will be peace. The jews are not going anywhere so the entire region should just accept that attacking israel will just make the situation worse.

@Frankie

No, I want evidence that the majority of the country's population where dancing. Can you produce that, no. You know why, because they didn't, dont downgrade an entire people because of the actions of a few. That way of thinking shows a lack of vision.

All action against terrorists like Hamarse and Hezbooola are a honourable.
Thats all you got? subjectivity Frankie? we talking hard facts here. Im not satisfied. As far as im concerned Hamas intentions for a free nation is more honourable.

Yes we can behave like barbaric pigs and just blame it on America - can India blame the recent Mumbai terrorist attacks on America as well?

No, but they can blame it on Pakistan, uhm you know the people who attacked them. You missed the point again, sir! Pakistan and India have their own issues between themselves. I really dont understand your point. How would that be the same?

You got links to that?

Dude do I really need to prove to you that Bush was voted in for a second term or that the vast majority of republican supporters where putting it mildly: "pro-war". Dont be ridiculous.

Dude, your points are valid ... but the overall sentiment in this thread is sympathy for the only state in this conflict ... Israel.

I frustratingly tried to make everyone one aware that this conflict is more that meets the eye. It's a myriad of issues that goes far and beyond "brokering peace".

I won't get involved again

I agree with that completely, If you attack a nation they have the right to attack you and defend their people in that case what Israel is doing would be just.

The point is that I don't think the attack was perpetrated by Hamas in the first place, i dont think they would be that stupid, it might have been a IDF pre-curser to war like old Bush's WMD's.

Its sounds rather fishy, The other thing is Israel is occupying Palestine on a permanent basis, so its kind of like living under apartheid for Palestinians.

1) I would like to see evidence that "these people" danced in the street.

You can keep ducking and diving

Same ideology that Hamarse' Mickey Mouse was teaching to the kids.
It appears that you condone the hate propagated by this Mickey Mouse!

I know, I feel exactly the same, I still enjoy just putting my point in there and getting out, at least an alternative viewpoint is expressed.

Find what? :D

The first link there is just a google search "palestinian dance in street wtc 911 terrorist"

There where no actual results!

The youtube video of Palestinians dancing was actually: get this: taken a year before 9/11 CNN and FOX at too apologise for this mistake.

The third link is just a link to some cheaply designed website with a photo of a woman who is celebrating, and eating a samoosa, with a picture of WTC on top of her pic, no evidence whatsover.

Frankie, either:

1) U researched those links poorly.
2) U thought i wouldn't really look, [which i didn't in the first place.]
3) U are 14 years old?
4) U think im stupid and would fall for that. or
5) You are stupid and and you fell for it.
6) U honestly believe that those links are evidence of Palestinians celebrating 9/11.

Now i didnt insult you. but which one is it dude?

The 9/11 video is propaganda at its worse.. well sort of because the US media is guilty of a lot, bush's speeches are even worse :p

The point is this, the damage was done.. Fox & Cnn apologizing was seen by how much?

Exactly, that is even proof that they planed going into the middle east from the outset, as people immediately associate the attack with middle eastern-ness. What I have realised through all this is that people are dum and will eat up anything.

Bush created the word terrorist as a Arabic person or thinking by saying it a Gazzillion times.

This is what a friend told me abot the timing by israel.
george "dubya" bushface is on his way out, BUT, Mr Obama is not yet president.
So israel started the attacks knowing that dubya would not want to get involved in a Big situation/problem, and Mr Obama is not yet the most powerful man in the world.
Who's gonna stop israel doing what they doing? basically nobody, thats until Mr Obama gets into office with the clearest head that the oval office has had in decades, and gets his hands dirty, getting the UN to "work".

BUT, my fear is that there will be a lot of anti-terror attacks because of what is going on in Gaza. israel and america may get the brunt of it and Islam definitely doesnt approve of innocent people getting killed. Yes it does happen, but Islam does not consider it to be part and parcel of a battle to bomb innocents.

Everyone, please hold thums, or even better,
PRAY...

Well the damage is done, the Israeli's have set the goal as the removal of Hamas which is wishful thinking at best. This coming summer i wouldn't want to be anywhere in Israel.

Today they hit a UN school which was set up as a refugee camp.. co-ordinates were given in advance to Israel and yet it was hit and death toll jumped to 660 now. To think this sort of thing is going to make Israel a 'safer' country is like pissing into gale force winds and claiming your pants is clean.

1) I would like to see evidence that "these people" danced in the street.

2) Id like for you to point out the difference between the IDF and Hamas. This is a question to you Frankie, what in your mind makes them diferent.

3) I also doubt you understand the history of what the U.S has done to middle eastern states and the people of those states in our recent history, if you knew what they did to "these people" you would probably understand why pockets of people would celebrate such an attack.

4) What is the difference in the way U.S citizens celebrate the flattening of entire country, and the emotional and psychical well being of an entire nation i.e Iraq.

Ample bodied folk screaming "Support the troops!" or the fact that they voted in Bush again! while eating doughnuts. The U.S government is the most overt and ruthless terrorist organisation.

Loop, you raised some valid points, but he is not going to answer you properly, Frankie/Tim are quick to ask for links or to post facts, but don't expect any facts/proof from them.

As daveza said before:

The deaths brought the tally of civilian fatalities from rocket strikes to 19 since 2002, when militants in Gaza first began firing missiles at Israeli towns.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/dec/30/israel-hamas-gaza

They killed almost double the amount by bombing the UN school!

BBSA claims Israel has the right to defend itself, yet this is far from defense!

EDIT:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7814772.stm

Casualty claims in Gaza cannot be independently verified. Israel is refusing to let international journalists into Gaza, despite a supreme court ruling to allow a limited number of reporters to enter the territory.

I wonder why??

Frankie is still posting that? when it was proved by experts to have been translated for maximum propaganda effect by MEMRI.
Several commentators, such as CNN's Arabic department, have claimed that the transcript of the April 13 show (2007) provided by MEMRI contains numerous translation errors and undue emphases. Brian Whitaker, the Middle East editor for the Guardian newspaper (UK), wrote in a blog for the newspaper that in the translation of the video, showing Farfour eliciting political comments from a young girl named Sanabel, the MEMRI transcript misrepresents the segment, by attributing a sentence said by Farfour, ("I'll shoot"), to the child, and ignoring the child's statement ("I'm going to draw a picture").[78]

Whitaker further criticized MEMRI's translation. He and others commented that a statement uttered by the same child, ("We're going to [or want to] resist"), had been given an unduely aggressive interpretation by MEMRI as ("We want to fight"). Also, where MEMRI translated the girl as saying the highly controversial remark ("We will annihilate the Jews"), Whitaker and others, including Arabic speakers used by CNN, insist that based on careful listening to the low quality video clip, the girl is variously interpreted as saying, "The Jews [will] shoot[] us"[78] or "The Jews are killing us."[79] Other sources have also pointed out that MEMRI's translation "I will commit martyrdom" should more accurately have been "I'll become a martyr" - a passive statement rather than an active/agressive threat.[80]

The sick ones are MEMRI who use a kid show for their propaganda/smear.
