The Middle East Conflict Thread

OK. We have a good start here. You, oh enlightened Timgaul, at least recognises the UN.

Will you then explain to us lesser beings why Israel is in breach of more UN resolutions than any other country on earth?

Once you (without reservation or hesitation) accept the existence and the legality of the state of Israel. :D

Because it's not. Because that's a popular lie.

The Palestinians however are.

Though my favourite line of thinking is: the UN should intervene in Israel because they have breached so many resolutions, oh and Hamas doesn't accept UN Resolution 181. Pot... kettle... black, anyone?

Israel may be a bit unrelenting in their attacks, but you brought this upon yourself!

Amen to that!

;)
Every Islamic nation is calling for attacks against Jews anywhere in the world now tell me who is looking for a fight? Islam is attacking Jews, this is not about Israel, this is now about Islam and Jews.
So then it is about religion?

< whole pile of yadda yadda snipped>

Israel is not de facto state. Israel was mandated legally by the UN, your failure to accept that is a failure to recognise the UN - another problem in itself. Negotiations were taking place before Hamas chose to no longer recognise Israel. Palestine is completely unreasonable to Israeli offers refusing to negotiate.

You are blind to the point of it being frustrating by ignoring absolute fact.

I'm not sure why you have to resort to personal insults, but never mind.

Thinking about it - you are perhaps right. A number of Jews/Zionists did occupy the land prior to 1948, so maybe they have a right to a limited state, or a shared state of the whole area. I don't accept its legitimacy via that UN resolution though - the UN was a very new body that was used as a vehicle to solve two problems:

- the guilt or desire to make good of the west concerning the holocaust
- a partial solution to the issue of the millions of Displaced Persons at the end of WWII, some of whom were Jewish and unwilling or unable to return to their homelands

The UN plan gave the majority of the land to a minority, and resulted in a brutal period of what we would now call ethnic cleansing by the Zionists.

Statements like that is just cheap propaganda, if the true must be told then it is Hamas/Iran who calls for the total destruction of Israel.

Well under International law a blockade is an 'act of war'(that would mean that Israel has broken the truce with Hamas since 2007) The UN decides whether it is illegal or not and so far the UN has been critical of Israel's blockade.

Funny how now you hold the UN with such high regard but when it was against the Iraq war you were all behind the US disregarding the UN.

Would it be ethnic cleansing when the Sunnis wipe out the Shia (or vice verse) , because they're sure heading that way in Iraq.
Peaceful bunch

Isnt it? This is being funded by Islamic nations that want to destroy Israel. This is about religion as well as it is about land.
I'd agree that "land" may play a role, but it's more to do with the vile ideology that is hell-bent on world domination by violent means.
The "land" is only used as a tool, just like in Zim 1.0

Then we can call the attempts at world domination by Islamists as "historical fact".
Mickey Mouse has just become "historical fact"

I don't really see what your Mickey Mouse item has to do with it or what point you are trying to make - you keep trotting it out as justification for everything.

Well, they are certainly in breach of a helluva lot of UN resolutions - lists abound. Furthermore there is a long list of Security Council resolutions that the USA has vetoed, in its role as Protector of Israel. Here are some of those:

So let's not go into denial about this.

Dude, you're wearing a tin foil hat. First you believe the 1940s UN was ineffective. Now you believe the modern UN is ineffective. As such you believe that Palestine should be above the law. Well then I fully support an Israeli incursion into the area as the law no longer applies. The Arabs have plenty of other places to go, Israel is the only Jewish state; deal with it.

Well there plan was to repatriate, as such there is 8million Jews and 2.4Million Palestinians. So it looks like the UN was correct, thanks for pointing out that the land belongs to the majority, as such it will stay in Israeli hands. Glad we finally got your approval.

Oh yes, and need we forget that the Arabs entire intention is to ethnically cleanse Palestine of the Jews. You are a huge hypocrite to bring up these accusations. Besides it being a massive propaganda lie, Israel is targeting militant targets unlike Hamas who target anyone.

Palestine breached the UN Resolution 181 the day Israel was formed. Israel owes them nothing regarding any resolutions and they deserve everything they receive if that is you attitude - they brought this upon themselves.

I must say, I would've preferred to leave Iraq to its own devices. Let Muslim-on-Muslim violence wipe each other out; they clearly don't need the US's help.
