So many people react with emotion in these cases because the kids are seemingly sacrosanct (and in some ways rightfully).

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The only person to blame is the sick fukc that did this.
Yes, her parental unit should have been aware where her child was and made sure, she's safe, but we should also have a reasonable expectation of safety in this world and not need to mody-coddle our young.
The restaurant, had to respond the way it did, they can't use more sympathetic phrasing or in any way say anything that may confer responsibility or seem to assume responsibility on themselves because we now live in a litigious world where the slightest hint of doing something wrong will see them sued and face huge financial penalties. Maybe more so overseas than here, but no business would take that risk.
And the raving masses with torches and pitchforks beating on their doors, demanding they "do more" to ensure the safety... it's people like you that cause us to end up with places where you need 5 forms of ID, a dna sample, a background check and six locked doors and metal detectors (of I may have slightly exaggerated) to get a table at a restaurant. Stop imposing restrictions and **** on us because one sick fukc.

That gets the child minder and manager in a lot of trouble if it was there before. It means that rules werent followed.

Also normally its a kids play at their own risk and we dont accept any responsibility for any injuries etc.

This is the reason why you need to make sure that all the fine-print is in place.

From the photo of the Rules, it looks like it was put there recently and paper was crumbled by hand like when you try to make something look like it wasnt just printed.

Also the source of the image is not really a news site, or attributed to a specific journalist so for all we know the photo could be from some random place

Well, that would be incredibly stupid of them to put that there afterwards and make it look like it was applicable from before. They just made themselves liable.... if this really is their rules.

If you sell yourself as a family restaraunt and have child facilities and child minder on site, then you take responsibility for that services and the safety on your own premises for the patrons.

Or shift the blame on child minder's negligence. People want heads for this, this will be their response: "investigated, people involved fired, preventative measures put in place. Please come again". We eat that up and carry on.

Yup, restaurants can't be held liable for the actions of criminals, how many places get held up by armed robbers every year -are they also liable for any injuries sustained by patrons?
