The Offical PSL Thread

Why were the cosmos players crying after realising they are now relegated? Those fools should have realised playing for all those draws all season long was only going to lead in one direction - the (long) drop! You could tell half way down that unless something changed dramatically it was a one way ticket back to the NSL... Jomo is so short sighted!

And they gonna definetely lose some of thier talented players like Theletsane..... but its always good to have Jomo air-pumping in the PSL.
It was also good to see Amazulu giving SSU abit of a hiding.Katlego Killer Mphela finishes with 17 goals for the season aswell...what does that say about our strikers?!!!!

Not really sad to see Cosmos go, too many Guateng teams in the PSL. Will be interesting to see if Black Aces can survive the play-off, if not, I hope that Black Leoprads come up the PSL.

Telkom Knockout results from the weekend:

Orlando PIrates 1 -0 Bloem Celtic
Golden Arrows 2 - 1 Platinum Stars
Mpumalanga Black Aces 1 - 5 Supersport United
Ajax 1 - 0 Moroka Swallows

PSL promotion play-offs, first leg results:

Black Leoprads 4 - 0 African Warriors
Black Aces 2 - 2 Nathi Lions

Leopards should be safe to get to the final, but Aces are in trouble.

Last weekend's results:

Wits 0 - 2 Jomo Cosmos
Amazulu 1 - 0 Maritzburg United
Santos (2)0 - 0(4) Kaizer Chiefs
Free State Stars 2 - 3 Mamelodi Sundowns

That means that the quarter-finalists are:

Jomo Cosmos
Amazulu
Kaizer Chiefs
Mamelodi Sundowns

some mouth watering fixtures there ! :D
i love the passion in the NFD play offs.i see black leopards were 4-0 up so hopefully the 2nd leg we will see some sick showboating ,shibobos, tsamayas.etc!

Im sad Chiefs drew Sundowns but without Mphela i hope they arent as deadly (but look at what Khanyeza and co did on the weekend!).

Im rooting all the way for Cosmos...wouldnt it be AWESOME if they could win a cup like this...hahaha relegated and all

NFD games should be good, and the weekedns game will be great. In the news, Swallows may be sold:

Johannesburg - Moroka Swallows majority shareholder Dieter Bock has announced that the Soweto-based club is up for sale.

He said in a statement: "I am convinced that over the coming seasons and with all the possibilities existing in the African hemisphere, well connected new co-owners /owners may be in a better position to enhance the club's development.

Now I know that Swallows are a much loved team, and have a good base up in Soweto, but this must get some other cities thinking. A PSL club up for offer, I think PE, Polokwane, and Kimberley should all watch this closely.

PSL/NFD play-off results:

Nathi Lions 0 - 2 Black Aces
Black Aces win 4 - 2 on aggregate

African Warriors 3 - 2 Black Leopards
Black Leopards win 6 - 3 on agrregate

So that sets up Aces and Leopards in the final, to see who goes to the PSL.

Leopards host the first leg on 3 April, and Aces host the second on 7 April.

The depth in the squad should see Sundowns through. So may attacking players that normally don't get a chance, Koketso Mmotong, Thuso Phala, Papi Zothwane, Lerato Chabangu, Fanyana Mokoena
However they need to sure up their defense. As much as they are lethal going forward, throwing away a 3-0 lead is sign of uncertainty at the back.

Ha ha --- should Cosmos win both cups they will get the same amount in prize money as what Supersport got for winning the league. (Telkom knockout - R4m Nedbank Cup R6m) = Psl league prize R10m. Wouldn't that be awesome ?

That's what I love about SA soccer. Anything is possible!

What possessed Chiefs this weekend, best game I've seen them play this weekend... Sundowns were truly lucky (or had some strong muti) because they should have been hammered... the scoreline flatters them.

Very true, Sundowns were in disarray and Chiefs should have scored about 7 goals with all those chanses bouncing off the posts!!!
As a Sundowns supporter, I was not even upset by the loss as I quickly realise that we were no match for Chiefs. They did everything right except to score goals.
Sundowns seemed to be in shambles and I don't even think they had a one shot at goal...

Chiefs vs Pirates game sold out .... in 12 hours!

Durban - Tickets for the Telkom Knockout semi-final between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida stadium on Monday, have been sold out.

This was confirmed by the Premier Soccer League on Thursday.

"We're extremely pleased by the latest developments with tickets for the Soweto Derby being sold out in just under 12 hours," said PSL CEO, Kjetil Siem.

Wow, SA soccer fans are really getting the hang of buying tickets early. Now we just need to get strict on reserved seating. Ajax vs Amazulu still has tickets available.

Results from yesterday:

PSL/NFD play-off final, first leg:
Black Leopards 2 - 1 Black Aces

Telkom Knockout semi-final:
Amazulu 0 - 2 Ajax Cape Town

So the last PSL spot is still wide open, with Leopards leading 2 - 1, but Aces have an all important away goal. The second leg is on 7 April, in Witbank.

Ajax are through to the TKO final again, and face either Chiefs or Pirates. That game is on Monday at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

A very bad case of penalty taking by Pirates there... missed all of their first "4"... counting the free retake. Exciting match, Chiefs had the first half & Pirates came out in the first half of the second half & then it was end to end stuff toward the end.

Good win Makhosi Amahle...

Yeah, well done Chiefs. The final has been announce:

Ajax Cape Town vs Kaizer Chiefs at Kings Park on 10 April, 8:15pm.

Not sure why the heck they chose Kings Park.

The Moses Mabhida grass looks a little hurt, maybe that's why. I wonder if they plan to relay the pitch are just going to give the grass time to recover before the world cup. It doesn't make sense why they would move to a different when the game is this coming weekend. Can't surely be due to worries of pitch abuse at the new stadium.
