yes i possibly havebut not as bad as i think hey, your prices are competitive i think maybe possibly better than vodacom. just a question its not an insult please dont get me wrong, the phones you supply are they fully unlocked and able to get firmware upgrades? because igear say theres are?
okay so when i get my iphone tomorrow can i purchase and install apps from itunes?
If my assumptions are right then no. Even if you had a unlocked phone, the appstore isn't out in South Africa yet and you can't buy from America seeing that you need a US address in order to do that.
Not a single iPhone 3G in South Africa is software unlocked at the moment, except Vodacom of course but theirs isn't out yet. So Igear cannot have a software unlocked iPhone 3G. They probably have a Turbosim unlocked one or some other sort of hardware unlock.
The reason I can say this with absolute certainty is because the Dev Team does not have a software unlock out yet and they are the creators of the software unlock. The whole world is waiting for a software unlock.
Once a software unlock is out then all phones can get firmware upgrades... so yes my phones can get upgrades then too.
I've bought alot of apps from the SA appstore my touch is full of 'em... surely the iPhone guys can buy from the appstore 2... you guys aren't making sense now

I love the way they trash talk people that are cheaper than them. My iPhones are no different to the ones they get.
LOL... some companies just don't have a damn clue.
I agree with Slinky mike, limnos bought his iphone for 500 Euros unlocked from Vodafone Greece over the counter...It seems that they are importing from countries where unlocked phones are available so they are very different to yours in that they don't need turbosim and from what I can gather from that page (there is LOTS there that is in fact garbage) you can upgrade in iTunes like a normal user without having to pwn.
Contrary to what you may think I have no issue with your little setup here but please don't stoop to spreading misinformation in order to close some deals... that makes you no better than those you rail against as devious and unjust in some of your posts.

I agree, misinformation is a huge problem on this forum. So to make things clear:
The iPhone can be bought legaly unlocked from: Italy, Greece and Portugal. This means that it is registered as an unlocked phone on Apples servers, so when you connect to iTunes to update the software it will know that the phone is unlocked.
Indeed there is no software unlock at this point (when is the dev team going to break it? who knows?)
The only other way to unlock an iphone is through a sim device that latches onto your existing sim.
There is no reason to believe that current sellers of the iPhone online are putting up prices that will be similar to the official price by Vodacom, this is pure speculation. (Online traders currently need to get their iPhones from overseas, pay import taxes and use a sim unlock or pay for a legal unlock in the country they are getting their stock from)
Now that I've got that off my chest, I wonder is some apple fanboy will run into to the Vodaworld headquarters and chain himself to the CEO's office door and not leave until Vodacom releases their prices and dates of release... Or perhaps COSATU will start a national go slow until the information is released (stranger things have happened)![]()
