The Official BlackBerry Bold 9900 Thread

haha might be a reason hey gosh feels so primitive having to log into my email server to check my mails haha, cant wait for this phone on wednesday gonna be awesome

gosh my 8GB sd card today for it, glad to see it came with a leather pouch too

Michaelmw, who are you getting it from? You are so lucky to know when you are getting yours, i have been begging nashua for mine, and its just issues after issues after issues after issues.

Does any one else have anything to add about it? Apps that work really well? Any other issues any one has had?

Lazy.Me i just called vodacom upgrades center, getting it from them delivered to my office quick process really less than 5 minutes from start to finish, longest part was spelling out my delivery address.

weather apps, rss feed apps, tapatalk and battery monitoring apps that support os6 + are awesome because it keeps the notifications on the notifications bar in os6 are displayed there!

I really do regret not changing service providers, this upgrade has taken days.
Whats tapatalk and don't you use social feeds for RSS feeds?
The battery monitoring and weather apps are a must have.
Does anyone has the NFCLauncher, and where could one get NFC tags?

tapatalk is a forum app, that lets u view like MyBB forums for example via app and not a browser. NFC tags are very cheap but you need a specific one ill send you the name of the specific tags you need now, since there are different types of NFC tags.

From Dev Of NFC_Launcher App, from crackberry.com: "The best tags to buy are Mifare Ultralight tags with smallest memory size (cheapest)."

and just ordered the phone through vodacom upgrade centre ;) she said it should be delivered by wednesday cannot wait :), LandyMan you keeping it in the leather pouch and all ? im a social freak that battery life doesnt sound too good if ur on 35% after 4:30hr something is wrong there, alot of guys on crackberry are reporting that.

here are a few from crackberry, i need to add user experience is very different so what might help one of us might not be the same from another, so give .440 a try.

2. Quote: "I got my phone yesterday. Charged it til full at 9PM (took couple hours), then I used it til 5PM today with Facebook, emails, some web browser and IM ... you know what the battery is still 55% at 6PM. And at 10PM the battery is 30%. To me there is absolutely no issue with the battery at all!

* I am using 9930 and lastest OS .340 "

4. Link to .440 try it and let me know too please, i know half of these dont have a reference and as i mentioned user experiences change and vary i suppose, from what i read on crackberry everyone is different and no1 has a solid answer on each software revision, but anyways doesnt hurt to try

To give you an idea. Took the phone off the charger at 6:05 this morning, BBMd my wife about 7 times, got about 8 emails, responded to two, and used foursquare to check in at work. It is 08:32 now, and I have 66% left. According to tiny meter I am losing on average 12.1% per hour

Spark, have you done the .440 update? Also LandyMan, are you sure you are running 440? because unless you were on the phone the whole time or running GPS software or something similar, it doesn't make sense that your battery drainage would be that intense, as Michaelmw pointed you

Yes, it is definitely running .440, confirmed multiple times. What is the shipping version for the 9900 from Vodacom ... I will need to revert to that if I want to take the phone back :)

BIS being down today is probably why I have had such good battery life today.

With BIS being down yesterday, there was obviously almost no data usage on the phone. Took me an hour to get home from work, only using SMS to my wife, battery dropped from 65% to 45%

Ok, so 6 hours after taking it off charge, I have 25% battery life left. Cellular shops reckon 9-14 hours is normal

Vodacom ships with .296, you can get it from here: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=B2F627FFF19FDA463CB386442EAC2B3D

That's very upsetting, try for an out of box failure and see if they will maybe replace the battery.
Michaelmw, do you by any chance know where to get those tags? i found a great American site, but not sure how expensive shipping is going to be, also i only want a few to play around with, so not sure it will be worth the cost of importing them
Nashua said my phone should be delivered tomorrow:D

I thought it was .296 ... busy restoring it now ... I spoke to the shop, and told them I see this as an OBF. I will take it in sometime this week, and they will send it away to have it checked out.

Don't you have to take it in within 7 days?

Hopefully they just replace the battery. I wonder how long it will be till we see high capacity batteries for this phone

Yep, I only got it on Saturday, so still some time left. Going to run .296 and compare with .440, and then take it in for good measure :)

This thread and the battery issues are pushing me away from this phone bigtime which is unfortunate because I like the rest of the specs.. :-(

Would be really interesting to see what the difference for you is, and Divv, the phone is still the best blackberry ever, the battery life gets better with each and every software update, not sure why LandyMan is struggling so much, but thats why you have a Out of box failure guarantee

Thanks Lazy.Me ... I won't completely write it off then - waiting to see what pricing on offer next month.

Quick question and may be answered somewhere else and have missed it. Sounds the phone is great but does it do MMS? There seems to be some confusion when speaking to the guys at upgrades and then when I go to look on the web it says that it does support it.

hahaha MMS still wow i think iv used mms once in my life since it was started haha was prop to send a nekkid pic to a chick haha....EMAIL everything now or just send it over BBM :)

So eventually I got it downgraded to 296 again (my Apploader kept crashing, I think its an issue with version 7.20 beta).

Anyway, so all restored and very pretty, but the weirdest thing: I get edge (not EDGE) signal, which in my books means that there is no data connection, however, I can browse and use the net as if it was an EDGE connection ... I are confused

Na EDGE in caps means BIS is active, edge in lower case means internet is still active just no BIS/BES
