The Official BlackBerry Bold 9900 Thread

If you are getting "edge" instead of EDGE but are able to surf it means you aren't going through the BB APN - which means you will get charged (which in itself is ridiculous seeing as BIS hasn't worked in days).

Not to be rude, but how do you not know that BIS is currently down at the moment? It's been posted all over the place.

Good morning. I know it is down, I've known it was down before it was posted, but anyway. Even with the BIS blackout, you still see EDGE or 3G (Paw) on your screen, correct? That means you are connected to the BIS network, correct? But being connected to it doesn't mean that you can actually push any data ... ssssooo, when I redid my phone, the phone couldn't even SEE the BIS network, hence the edge connection.

I had the "lower-case issue" (edge vs EDGE) overnight - a battery pull sorted it out. Wish the RIM issues could be sorted so easily!!
 
And that sucks now :) i just received my blackberry bold :) setting it up now media sync, update OS and all that, lovely lovely phone wow really stunning and really happy
 
My BB experience as follows.

Curve 8900 -> Bold 9700 -> Torch 9800 -> Bold 9900
I am running Platform - 5.0.0.544 (App Version - 7.0.0.353 - 1672) from SK Telekom - China.

Fismail: I cant decide between tthe 9900 or 9810(on order from MTN) seems that youve had the 9800 and now the 9900,which do you recommend? Im leaninig towards the torch due to the larger screen.
 
due the 9900 is awesome i got it today, the screen is huge man, obviously smaller than a torch, but this keyboard wow u will no go wrong man serious, the screen and keyboard combo is awesome, not mistake, i really love this screen to, slightly less Dbi than a iPhone 4/4s
 
FINALLY got my 9900 from nashua on MTN, but due to the servers being down, i can't switch yet. sadly
 
its well worth the wait Lazy.Me got mine today too this keyboard is amazing my word!!
 
But now i am having HUGE issues with blackberry protect, and Micoach doesnt work on OS 7 which is a bit of an issue
 
yeah thats not good man, i setup bb protect this morning going very smooth so far and have a windows unfortunatly, saw on crackberry a few guys not liking os7 and mac
 
why? my mac works perfectly with the phone, right now it really is just an issue with blackberry protect not connecting, but gave up and did a sync form my mac to get my contacts and stuff, next mission is apple
 
So Lazy and Michael, how's battery life treating your phones? I switched mine to 2G only, dropping 25% this morning in 3 hrs, compared to on 3G losing 46% in 3 hrs

Hi there.

If you need to type with keyboard (physical + screen) then stick with the Torch.
Its portrait slider is convenient.

If you want to navigate on a screen but type using physical keys only then the 9900 is the one to have which allows you to use keyboard and screen with 1 finger each.
Bear in mind the 9810 won't have NFC - Near Field Communication

I did some googling on the NFC,not to sure if NFC is something great or not,
Also is there anything that I might miss on the 9810 thats essential compared to the 9900?
im hoping that the battery life on the 9810 is better that then 9900?

we all may not seem that NFC is at this point, with NFC_Launcher its cool, my dad has one on his desk that when he scans the nfc chip it does multiple things, it BBM's me and my mom that he is in the office, and it adds the time to a spreadsheet of when he clocked into work, very cool. I think its very good considering this is going to be my primary phone for my contract lifespan so getting something that still isnt featured in many devices other than android is cool
