The Official FreeMe Thread

Sure..., but you still had to go online.
Doing it via USSD would be much easier.

Well it's up to you. Recharge via ussd, sms, website or app. Buy freeme bundles via ussd, app or website. Check balance via app, website, sms or ussd

This here has happened three times to me now...
I turn my data off. Load R100 airtime. Go onto the USSD portal thingy and click on the 1Gb free me bundle. I try and buy it ans it gives me an error saying that the bundle costs R99 and my balance is R94.something

When i go out and check my balance it shows as R100 but the transaction doesnt go through. It gives the same error that i apparently do not have enough airtime.

So tell me, if I have no airtime, no data, nada. How do I recharge via ussd.

Steps please.

Misunderstood your first post sorry.

*130*xxxx# for cellphone banking not a option for you? I know the the *130* ussd string is free designed especially to be able to recharge from your bank without any airtime. All banks have them as far as I know.

That said onnet.8ta.com is a zero rated site for recharges.

I bought the 2GB option which expires on the 31st of August. So far I'm quite happy with Telkom. My data feels way faster than mtn.

Anyhoo, I've just about run out of data and given that my free me expires on the 31st - what happens if a buy a new free me now? I'm guessing the previous one will disappear?

AFAIK Your new FreeMe bundles will only start depleting when the current one's either deplete or expire due to time. So, they will sit unused until you deplete the first lot of bundles or they expire.

That makes sense. Thank you.

thanks, will try when my bundle expire

The deal includes an additional 2Gb for WhatsApp and BBM?

Is this overkill?

All postpaid FreeMe packages include this social media bundle. I would be suprised if ANYONE manages to use 2GB via whatsapp and BBM, but that extra bundle helps you not use data from your general data bundle. Every mb used from the social media bundle leaves you with more in the general bundle to surf or do any other thing.

So working week 1 on Telkom More and FreeMe is done. On Monday after porting, I loaded R70 airtime. R69 was used for the FreeMe 500mb bundle. The other R69 of bonus airtime gave me 36 minutes of all networks calls which I used, along with 25min of landline calls from the FreeMe bundle. Next week, R20 airtime to be loaded on Monday next week will give me free 10.5 all network minutes for 7 days (R20 free airtime / R1.90pm) and then I will use the paid airtime to buy a 25min all networks bundle for R17.

It just doesn't get cheaper than this - 56cents per minute! Loving Telkom Mobile!

Does Facebook eat into the social media bundle? In 2 days I've used a 160mb on the social media bundle... Does not make sense as I don't use wats app much...

Just ran an unscientific test. Twitter and facebook usage came out of my general data bundle and not the social media one.
