Received my P8 Lite this morning....how long does it take for the Sim card to be activated?

I hope you luckier than I am. I ordered at the begining of August, recieved sim and handset 2 weeks later, sim was activated a week after delivery and I'm still waiting for my port to complete. So its taken a month and counting in my case.
Good luck. Oh and I did open a case which got closed as successful without anyone from Telkom contacting me or a resolution to the case.
Again good luck, I really hope you don't have to go through what I'm going through.
 
Yeah Telkom customer service is really bad. They should really sort it out. When I got a pay as go SIM, I asked the guy to load 200 on it. When I got home, ready to play the 200 was not there. Went all the way back and figured out he somehow loaded 200 against another SIM. Now I have 2 Sims. And as far as I know only one is Rica.
 
Mine got activated two days ago new bundle loaded this morning but no free airtime only the data and sms's.

So I popped in to a Telkom store this afternoon after fetching my irreparable S6 from iFix :(

Anyway, I saw they had the S7 on freeme 1gb for R500, so i took it.

I assume you've seen the deal of the month by now though?

That's a good S7 deal. R12k for the phone over the 24 months is offset by the GB a month with the other FreeMe benefits.

Yip, saw the myBB article about the DOTM.

Were there new deal books/brochures in store?

Yeah, I didn't need to think long about it. The S7 edge was still quite pricey.

Yes, there's about a million of them in store. Also Google Telkom brochure and it should come up (it's a Telkom site)

It's FreeMe 1Gb. You can also get it on smartplan 100 for R500. No, it's not the deal of the month.

I see the site for the brochure is still under construction. Go to a Telkom store. There's loads there
 
Just grabbed a deals book - I have scanned it to PDF, but for some reason it is not uploading here (16mb). If anyone wants it, please give me a link to a filehost site which is quick and easy

Where is my social media bundle going? I used 9 mb in the last hour with the bundle expiring. According to my device I have only used 16mb since I bought the FREE me bundle (26 th August).

Whatsapp media backups to Google Drive maybe? Would think that the phone would still register the data usage though...
 
I just signed up for FreeMe Unlimited SIM only month to month, will the 25Gb data be for roaming on MTN as well ? Will I be charged for data when roaming on MTN ? I live in an area 100's of km away from Telkom base stations where I will be roaming 100% of usage, voice works fine but what about data ?

Signed up for freeme and telkom guy enabled data roaming for me on phone
 
Been through the website and this thread and cant find any info regarding Telkom hotspot accessibility for the freeme boost bundles.
For the freeme contracts, its specified as part of it, but nothing said under the boost bundle.
Can anyone please confirm if they received wifi allocation when they purchased their freeme boost bundle?

Im currently on a smartplan and my contract is coming to an end. I use the Telkom hotspots often and would like to keep access to it.
