The Official FreeMe Thread

Been through the website and this thread and cant find any info regarding Telkom hotspot accessibility for the freeme boost bundles.
For the freeme contracts, its specified as part of it, but nothing said under the boost bundle.
Can anyone please confirm if they received wifi allocation when they purchased their freeme boost bundle?

Im currently on a smartplan and my contract is coming to an end. I use the Telkom hotspots often and would like to keep access to it.

I'm pretty sure you do get wifi

Thanks jman and FlashSA

This has helped a lot with my decision.

Sorry, I deleted my post because I see I have no balance for FREE WIFI on my line which has FreeMe. My LTE "uncapped" does have it.

So, it appears prepaid FreeMe Boost bundles DO NOT HAVE FREE WIFI

I have 10gb of the wifi data, see my screenshot - I've also been using it at malls and the like, connects automatically

Oh wait.. I'm not sure if you guys are referring specifically to the boost bundles, but I do get 10gb wifi data on my FreeMe contract monthly

I wanted to know specifically for freeme boost (PREPAID)
They do mention is for freeme contract, but they didn't mention it in t&c's or website for freeme boost.

Definitely not being allocated to my line. I am on prepaid and buy a 500mb FreeMe boost every 31 days

So I have two questions about the FreeMe packages. I am hoping someone knows the answer so it will save me a trip to the mall because no one at Telkom is answering.

1. I am interested in the R99 sim only option. Is the sim only option available on month to month or is it only a 24 month contract?
2. Is it possible to limit the out of bundle charges to R1?

Both month to month and 24 month

Pretty sure 2 must be possible.

Just some feedback on this incase anyone else has these questions
1. it is available on both month to month and 2 year contract. The store didn't know about it until I showed them on their site.
2. This can be done.

I just need to find out if I can upgrade my contract in the 22nd month to a month to month contract

My freeMe bundle doesn't work!! It's utter bull ****, i have called the call center countless times only to be told off that they will look into it. My watsapp calls aren't free at all, infact the watsapp data is still intact! What must to can happen now? I'm frustrated out of my mind. Waste of money!

Has anyone activated Multisim with the Freeme contracts? I would like to activate the multisim on the Freeme 1gig sim option.

Per point 19 on the T&C's:
No-multi-Sim functionality will be made available to the Freeme individual postpaid and hybrid plans

Multisim option only possible with the postpaid Freeme Boost packages.

Okay, for clarity... Generally the SO is finding Telkom coverage to be from weak to poor depending on where in the area she's travelling. There is the option to manually force her carrier from Telkom to MTN. By doing so the phone will permanently be connecting to MTN towers and not Telkom towers. On the Freeme 20gb prepaid package would there be any cost implications incurred by forcing MTN? Calls, data, smses etc etc etc?

TIA

And apologies for straying OT but I'm not seeing a Freeme exclusvie thread (although I haven't really looked)... okay, found it...

You can lock on to MTN and roam on them on a permanent basis. It will be EXACTLY the same as being on Telkom's towers with regards to sms, calls and data. There is no extra/other charges. Your 20GB bundle will deplete at the same rate as if you were on your Telkom home network and not roaming.

The ONLY change is that you will not get 4G/LTE on MTN roaming - they limit it to 3G. If you can live with the reduced speed, roam away....

Awesome, thanks man. Suspected it would have been but am being very lazy this fine Saturday morning.

Next question: *188# dialed from the handset for balances but are the inclusive minutes meant to be indicated too? Cause we getting some peculiar information back which doesn't tally with the product description.

on the phone (disconnect from wifi and make sure the sim's mobile data is active) go to onnet.telkom.co.za and it should show all your balances including the 1500 all network minutes which you should have been allocated.
