Time for 1 place for all matters relating to Telkom Freeme to be discussed.

Day 2 for me (500mb FreeMe on prepaid) and I am extremely happy. I ported from Vodacom on Monday night. I use my handset for work during the day and I am really enjoying going back to making calls to my suppliers' landlines using my cell rather than having to dial their number into my desk phone after looking it up in Google Contacts - and it's free!

I also tested out whatsapp calling over H+ when I called my wife from inside Builders Express and the call was flawless and again, free!

For R70/month, this is SERIOUS bang for buck! Granted I could get my 500mb per month for R21/month (R249 for 500mbx12) but the extra's on FreeMe are worth it for the extra R48/month in my case.

So once I've ported and on telkom prepaid, how do I get the freeme package I want.
Buy airtime via bank app, then what?
Care to list the steps or point me to a link?

I loaded up the 20gig prepaid this morning and my social media data chowed away faster than a fat kid at a hotdog stand.

The hell happened? Only other thing I did in that period was turn on my phone's hotspot to update apps on my tablet.

So to answer myself...
Buy airtime via bank online. Then convert to data bundle with ussd code *180# option 1, again 1
Select data amount.

Quite a ballache of u ask me.
Although I hate EmptyN, this process was a lot smoother with them.
I could register my bank detail and then buy airtime straight via ussd, no need to go online first.

On Absa you can buy data directly on their site but unfortunately the FreeMe Bundles are not available.

I got a call for an upgrade, and they were heavily punting the FreeMe. But I'm not sure what the 'today only' promotion is?
FREE ME 1GB ( THIS PACKAGE IS ON PROMOTION )
* Unlimited calls to Telkom landlines
* Unlimited calls to Telkom mobile Subscribers
* Unlimited BBM and Whatsapp
* 50 FREE SMS's per day
* 1GB Data

Sim only R99 per month or
Huawei P8 Lite for R139 per month

Is this the standard Freeme or is it really a promotion?

PROMO - latest Telkom deals book has the P8lite for R199pm on FreeMe 1GB (it's actually the August Deal of the Month, so hurry)

I bought airtime from Takealot. Copied the voucher code from the email they sent me and entered it into the Telkom Mobile up under RECHARGE. Then I just bought a FreeMe 500mb bundle through the App.

Not even 5 minutes from opening the takealot app to profit!
