Forget all the gadgets, apps and 'industry' of running. take your takkies, put them on, and run around your hood. Run as much as you can, walk the rest. Do the same in a day or two. I've been running 5 to 10km daily for years and promise you, you don't need all the tools (including those at clubs). You dont even need fancy clothes. I run in a normal t-shirt, shorts, and whatever sneakers I have on. Just see it for what it is, a chance to get the blood pumping.
If you want to see what happens when people make too much of a sport, go look at MTB. Used to be about ripping up the trails, jumping, having fun with mates. Now it's become every obsessed twat, with their spandex and bum cream, dumbing down the hard bits, all on Strava. What a joke
