The official running thread™

Ahh lekker, I want to try on the Brooks Glycerin max but cannot seem to find a store that stock it that will allow me to try it on. I'm not particulary a fan of too much room in the toebox area. I guess I'm used to that tight race like fit and feel.
I have enough shoes in my rotation that will last me a good 4-6 months. I'm hoping for a Christmas special somewhere lol

I think my feet are on the border of being considered wide, but a wide fit would be too wide. If the shoe is too snug it nails my little toe on the right foot so I like a slightly roomier fit. The Launch line has a definite snug fit and pointier toebox.

My family says I have a shoe problem now...

If it doesn't rain this afternoon I'm definitely going for a test run in one of the Brooks.

Took the Glycerin GTS 21 out for their first run and am very happy. Nicely cushioned and has a bit of bounce. At one stage I felt like I could run like this forever. Ended up doing a 9km run and didn't even feel it.

I did experience some slight discomfort with my pinkie toe toward the end of the run, but I think my sock twisted a bit causing the issue. Overall this one was a great buy and should do very well for the long runs.

Nice I have been using Adrenalines since the 19s, had 3 sets of the 22s and I can't change distance shoes to any other brand without getting injured.

Adrenalines do get a bit hot so I run them with elastic laces and a half size up from my normal shoe size or I get blisters.

My speedwork shoes are Hoka but I don't do over 8kms and 90% of it is on grass.

Adrenalines are the next up to be tested. I'm still recovering from an ear infection so taking things slowly. Running every second day depending on how I feel, so might give them a go tomorrow. Brooks has really impressed me so far.

Have now taken all three shoes for a test run.

The Adrenaline feels slightly more cushioned than the Velocity Nitro 2, but is nice and responsive.
The Launch 10 is a snug fit and feels the most similar to the Velocity Nitro 2s. Did a quick speed test and at a 3:30 pace it felt very good. In all of them the stability support is much more subtle than on Asics' stability shoes. They don't feel like a stability shoe.

Overall the Glycerin impressed me the most. It's just so comfortable and fun to run in. It's still early days, but the Brooks look like they are well worth it.

Welcome back! How did I miss the early sale? Kept a constant eye, but never saw the 50% sale only a 30% off pre-applied price which didn't have any of the shoes.

I'm very happy with my Pumas. Been basically running in them constantly and reaching for them instead of the Asics. Think the Velocity Nitro 2 size 8.5 has over 200km and the size 8 has around 100km on the clock.

You are now legally obliged to inform me of these sales so I don't miss out again.
Good morning,

I'm just fulfulling my legal obligation here.

Puma has a working 50% discount code.

I've tested it and it works.
You prob have enough shoes but you still require a companion plated trainer.
Deviate nitro 3

I'm going to buy one now

Thank you. I spotted it myself this morning and went f###. Now I need to decide if I go for a 8 or 8.5 in the Velocity nitro 3's. How do they compare in the toe box to the 2? Think I'll pick up the size 8 Wide Deviate Nitro. Hopefully their 'wide' fit means only slightly wider than normal.

The deviate has a wider fit than the velocity's by default. The shoe is also much more stable than the velocity's due to the plate. If the velocity's were tight but almost just right then the standard deviate (not the wide) should be fine. Alternatively you can order the wide and if it is too wide when you receive then log a return and ask for a normal size one instead. with puma, as always never go half a size up. Most people I know tend to go half size down when they buy puma's

The velocity's is a tight / snug fit. The deviate's is the perfect fit not too tight not too snug. the only problem I had in the beginning was heel slip. I fixed that by doing a runners knot.

Okay, that narrows it down. The Velocity 2 size 8 is very snug for me on the right foot, the left is perfect. Not so snug that it causes blisters, but tighter than I'm used to. I think going for the standard Deviate 3 would be the best option then. Guess that means I'm also sticking with the size 8 Velocity 3's. I'm a tad concerned that the Powertape might make the fit even more snug than the 2's.

Wait ,youre buying velocity's aswell? Lol how many shoes do you need? Based on the mileage you run, your current shoe rotation should last you years haha

Plated shoes takes some time getting used to. I've had Several different brands and pairs of carbon's and find the tpu plated shoes to be the most forgiving on my legs. Please dont use your plates shoes as daily trainers. Use them max 2 x per week. Plated shoes are quite stiff in the beginning. Almost reminds me of the solarglide range of adidas but with alot more bounce and energy return. They are extremely nice for long runs.

Uhm, if you haven't figured it out yet I have a bit of a problem... Running is my new hyperfocus. So I go all in.

I mean if it's 50% off it's worth getting 3. Plan is to get a Deviate 3 and 2 x Velocity 3's and then I'm done. I wouldn't have gotten the Brooks if the Pumas were on sale the first time. I really like the versatility of the Velocity as a daily trainer.

I had to buy a shoe rack to fit my collection and these 3 should fill the empty shelf nicely.

If I could make a suggestion,
Consider the 1x velocity, 1x higher cushion shoe ie the foreverrun or mag max and the deviate. Overall that should be a nice rotation. Use the velocity's for easy runs, the foreverrun or magmax as recovery shoes for those days after a speedy or long distance workout, and the deviates as a tempo/interval shoe

I received a pair of adidas boston shoes as a gift. Ran in them 3 times. (+- 60km) if anyone wants them. Size 11.

It's free.

I need a bit of stability in my shoes since I pronate inward (my Velocity 2 8.5 now have an inward lean after 190km) so not sure if the Magmax would be a good option with all that cushioning. I've never tried a max cushion shoe before.

I have a Foreverrun but for some reason I don't enjoy it all that much. Might need to break it in a bit more. The Brooks Glycerin GTS has stability and some nice cushioning. And then I also have the Asics Kayano 30's with loads of stability and more cushioning.

The Deviates will be my first try at carbon plate shoe.

I prefer a shoe with less cushioning. One that sends a proper shock through the body with each footstrike lol so I can understand that you might not like alot of cushioning.
