The official running thread™

I'm at work so can't fight with
[email protected]. Apparently they say the code is not working because the items is excluded.

Would appreciate it if other people can also send an email to them complaining. If anyone has time on hand just add all the full price shoes in the BF listing to your cart and apply the code. Take a screenshot and show them it doesn't work on any of them.

Reebok has some crazy specials on running shoes. I have not owned a pair of reeboks since Zig nano was a thing in 2013. I'm quite tempted to buy a pair of these https://www.reebok.co.za/products/floatzig-x1-shoes-1?variant=49602012545323
I’m proper stuck here. On one hand, if I buy myself another nice pair of shoes, I’ll be buzzing, walking around like I’m the king of the world. But on the other hand, if I get a portable aircon for the living room, the wife will be over the moon, chilling in pure bliss while I sit there regretting my life choices.

So yeah, do I want to strut around feeling like a legend, or do I want to avoid the icy wrath of my better half? Choices, man. Flip a coin maybe?

Looks like the Puma sale is going to be a bust for me. Don't know why the Velocity Nitro and all other Nitro shoes now seem to be excluded from the sale.

Velocity's are marked down at sportsa but only 27%

Ended up buying the portable aircon instead. I want no trouble with the missis

Let me know what you discover.

And please let me know if you get a working code for Puma again. I can still live in hope for Cybermonday I guess...
I will definitely let you know when I get a working discount code again.

Woah brooks running a 50% discount on their shoes. I've previously once owned the brooks ghost shoes and they weren't bad at all.

I'm browsing through their selection right now some of the shoes also have nitros infused outsoles

Discount code BF50 for anyone thats interested.

Had a small heart attack. I ordered from them and while trying to log into my account the website shows:

Managed to log in via my phone and everything seems to work there. Seems I had some sort of weird cookie glitch on the PC. Or it could be a scam... [most likely not, although the local Brooks site does suck quite a bit and their UI leaves a lot to be desired]

What the heck is up with their email being different from the site address? [email protected] vs https://brooksrunning-sa.co.za

Since Puma didn't want my money, Brooks is getting it now.

Ordered these:

If I managed to decipher the models correctly I should have a daily trainer, a speed workout and a long run shoe in the batch. Hopefully their advice on their site to go up half a size holds true as I have no idea how Brooks sizes compare.

I bought these.

I'm pretty bummed that that I slept on this. There was 2 shoes that I had on my wishlist and the glycerin max was one of them. It's basicly brooks version of the maximum cushioning shoe similar to puma's magmax. I was also hoping to get a hyperion tempo 2 but those were all sold out unfortunately. The ghost max will do. I'm ramping up my mileage aggressively end of January and will need these for my easy long runs of 30-40km's.Screenshot_20241129_202331_Chrome.jpg

Nice! I'm a bit confused with all their models.

Did the shoe finder test on the Brooks US site and it said:

Looks like you’ve got a recent injury, knees and hips that aren’t aligned, feet that don’t point straight, and a desire to significantly increase your mileage. We recommend your shoes be: Support

That aligned with already knowing that I needed some stability support so I then figured the GTS versions were the ones to go for. Am I right in saying:
Adrenaline = Daily trainer [kinda like the Velocity Nitro]
Glycerin = Long run shoe, with more cushioning [like Asics Kayano]
Launch = Fast(er) shoe

I was a bit rushed so couldn't do my normal extensive research like I'd want to before buying.

My Brooks came today. Can't wait to get home to try them on. Kinda disappointed in how light the colours are IRL, the photos made them look a bit darker grey.

Aside from that really impressed with Brooks' service. Ordered Friday and got them today. That's better than Takealot.

Doctor said running shouldn't worsen my ear so might just do a wee test run...

It got windy and my ear got a bit worse so I decided against giving them an actual test run today. Hopefully I can take them on the road tomorrow.

It looks like going for a half size up was the right call for me. The length is about perfect as far as I can tell from a walk test. Will see if there is an issue during runs. The Brooks feel a bit roomier in the toe box, less than Asics, but more than the Pumas . The stability support is less pronounced than with the Asics equivalents. It's more subtle, at least from initial wear impressions.

My left foot is a perfect fit, my right foot is a little less than perfect. With the Glycerin there's just a tad too much pressure on my little toe from the upper. Hoping the upper stretches a bit with wear.

Initial thoughts:
Glycerin: Definitely has the most cushioning, not squishy levels but definitely more than the others.
Adrenaline: More cushioning than the Launch, but less than the Glycerin. Will definitely feel more responsive. Pretty much like the Velocity 2, but with a wider fit and a tad more cushioning.
Launch: This one feels the closest to the Puma Velocity 2. Quite a snug fit and feels very responsive. Plus it's red(ish) so will go extra fast. The colorway is more white than I anticipated so might get dirty very easily.

If the runs pan out, I think I might have found a new favourite shoe brand which fits my feet a bit better than the others.

Ahh lekker, I want to try on the Brooks Glycerin max but cannot seem to find a store that stock it that will allow me to try it on. I'm not particulary a fan of too much room in the toebox area. I guess I'm used to that tight race like fit and feel.
I have enough shoes in my rotation that will last me a good 4-6 months. I'm hoping for a Christmas special somewhere lol
