Sounds like achilles tendonitis but determine whether it's:The back of my heel is giving me issues. Had stopped running for 3 weeks, went for a run yesterday and the pain is back. Do I need to see a professional now?
Insertional Achilles tendonitis affects the lower portion of your tendon where it attaches to your heel bone.
Noninsertional Achilles tendonitis involves fibers in the middle portion of the tendon
I had noninsertional - stopped for a few weeks did intense RICE and it flamed up again. Only thing that worked was eccentric heel raises. Pain is gone now.
