I ran with a friend who is generally faster then me to be a pacer but at the 8km mark he had knee pain by 10km he could only walk and by 12km he couldn't walk anymore.

I had to run home and fetch my car then get him, only once he was safe did I got out and finish my last 4km's.

My goal of 1hour 50 mins for 21.1km turned into 3hour :15mins mess but felt like a real comrades experience

Ran the 10K yesterday, in a time of 1:05. Not the worst time, but man, I'm unfit. Predicted real Comrades time would have been 13 hours 58 minutes.

Sounds like it would've been a perfect day to run the Comrades.

Why would you not want to do more 21's in future?

Nfi. It was my first. Think doing it solo had an effect. Remember doing my first 10k road race and that was a ton of fun

Mind you the cold and my buggy knee defo didn't help. I am not a fan of cold on the best of days.

Having said that I have noticed that the back of my mind has been mapping out another 21k route o_O

So I was super motivated to finish this 5KM in 5 days challenge from Discovery.... But today's weather is just too crap for a run. Hoping for snow so that I can use that as an excuse.

My first 21 was a humbling experience. When you see the elderly and not so fit looking people cross the Comrades finish line before the final gun, you realise they've run 42k's in less than 5h just to get there.
Half that in less than 2h30min is something special.

If I have to stop midway through a race to take a photo then I might as well abandon the race as I would never get going again.

so i did my first 10k the weekend before this last on the Sunday, and we are talking now like 9 days later and my feet still hurt :( like they are fine and then i walk a few steps and i start feeling pains in my under/side of feet. any idea what it could be and how to treat it? the rest i thought would have done it by now to the point of feeling no discomfort when walking (the problem, not the cause, the cause was me going to hard too fast i reckon, that and i need to ultimately invest in better shoes if i keep up any sort of 'distance' running.)

Just run and take pics. I once had Bruce Fordyce jokingly moan that he was struggling his way up a hill and here I was just taking selfies on the run. :) I often take pics on runs and races, especially on trial runs.

Go and see a podiatrist and take your running shoes with. You can then get a professional opinion on what shoes are needed. If you can look for a sports podiatrist. It is worth the cost in preventing injuries.

Just got an email https://www.entryninja.com/events/66902-prestige-trail-run-series-2.

Looks like 1 min intervals between participants and its actually happening.

First race series for me this year :)
I did the first of the series this past Sunday which was also my first ever “race”/organized event.
I went for the 10km and it was brilliant. I made every single rookie mistake (got lost following other runners, stepped on a cow pat, pushed too hard too early...) but overall I had lots of fun.
Looking forward to the next one.

I unfortunately have a eina case of shin splints so didn't even make it to the race.

Making mistakes in trail is all part of the fun, you will quickly learn to pick up markers when you have just dropped a lung . My first club training run I set out for 10km playing follow the leader and ended up running the 21km.....very long hard mistake.

Must have been beautiful out there!
