The official running thread™

stretch, massage and plan your refuelling strategy. 5 or 6 gels for the run and some good carbs the day before. hydrate. well.
Jeesh 5 or 6 gels your stomache will be a mess. I do one gel and hour in this case I would do a gel at 10km and another at 16ish kms. I would also use cytogen racing mix (powder you mix with water) 30 mins before. Makes you feel better along the entire run.

Honestly I don't use gels on a 21km those are training runs but for a first timer 1/2 is more than enough.

1st question has @Scooby_Doo used gels during training ? Otherwise your looking for trouble if you try it on race day

I stated so from experience on a ultra hot day doing my first Scottburgh half. I consume 1 gel 5min before start then 1 every 40mins and still had 1 after the run. Rather have more than less. Just my 2c

I will take a look tonight. You want to stuff a banana in it ?

Hopefully the new socks will help with the one or two blisters

No **** I don't do bananas. But it's always a mission some runs trying to find place for car keys, phone, gel etc. House keys are even worse

Was 7:51/km

Sounds about right. Big thing is to just stick with it for a couple of months. It DOES work.

How many pockets do those tights have?
From the pics it looks like 2 or 3. Phone pocket might be separate.

I don't like tights much and there's no way I'll run with only tights like some people do. Need to have shorts with the tights.

@Kornhub how's the high vis bib working out? They call that a training bib right?

Honestly the best thing to run in are those hoer broekies with the soft inner. But I'm not being caught dead in those in public.

I will let you know today or tomorrow when I run. Not sure what it is called but thought I def needed one when it gets dark. The streets where I run have street lights for mostly show.

Also the kamikaze sixty60 bikes

I modified an old rechargeable rear bike light by expoy glueing a Velcro strap to it fits over two fingers while running . Works perfectly for me

I actually picked up a set of 3 cheapy rechargeable rear bike lights (red) for the same purpose. Battery on one light doesn't last very long. About 2 x 40 runs. Still need to test the other two once my foot is back to normal.

Bonus is that you can loop it around your middle finger and show your appreciation of the motorist's brights without them knowing.
