The official running thread™

I really need to invest in some winter running stuff...its not really comfortable running in shorts and shirt in winter

With winter set in and late sunrise and freezing morning I have shifted my weekend runs to mid morning and long runs to immediately after breakfast with baby at 7am, I eat at 6am so I dont have any issues for the run.

Set out for a 21km - 25km dep on how I felt, I felt great and decided to push for 25km, all went well till last 750m where I got a muscle twinge and walked the rest of the way, got home and was pressed for time due to slightly bad planning and quickly had to do a nappy change and baby feed and then only got chance to cool down, BIG MISTAKE I got to foam rolling and my legs literally locked up couldnt stand and had to hobble and "die" on the bed thankfully my wife just got home and I managed to do a few streches that eased the pain, all gone now and I did fuel properly but didnt take my "booster - protein and carb rich milkshake" I have a massive blister on the side of my foot will need to figure that out in the future. Overall happy with the time especially considering this was a 25km pram run. 2 milestones, longest pram run and longest run ever.

Have a great weekend all!

Also ran with caffiene gels so in addition to pram that pushed up heart rate

I run with a light top and long skins for my legs and if really cold gloves and a buff its a must for winter or you die :)

I've lost a bit of weight recently, and it's like something clicked. Since the beginning of April, every parkrun I've done has been a sub-30, and the last few weeks I've even hit a couple in the sub-29 range that I haven't hit since August 2018, when I was running 10 or 21k races every second week. This past Saturday was 28:51, I was 28th (out of 500), and 1st in my age category (not often I manage that).
And on Saturday, I broke my 28:13 PB at Roodepoort with a 27:53. Not sure how I managed that...

Yay or Nay ?

I would stay away from something that is designed for multiple sports as a cycling backpack often sits a lot lower on the back. Trail running packs tend to sit very high...

Versus cycling.

There might be ones that can do both but if you are using it primarily for runnning, get a dedicated running one,

Great advice. I learned the hard way as well
