The Official Summer Transfer Mayhem 2009 Thread

Who didn't see that coming :o

Yeah was never given the chance to play in his best position. He also didn't exactly make the best of his very limited opportunities. Should get some decent money for him

CHELSEA are locked in talks to sign Bayern Munich ace Franck Ribery for £43million.

The two clubs are believed to have agreed the fee and Blues are now thrashing out terms with the 26-year-old French international midfielder.

Ribery is holding out for a bumper £125,000-a-week salary AFTER tax but Chelsea are reluctant to offer more than £90,000 a week.

If the Londoners do close the deal it will be a bitter blow to Premier League rivals Manchester United, who have long wanted the Frenchman as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Full-back Patrice Evra revealed in The Sun that he was hoping to persuade Ribery to join United.

I say give it to him. We need a good winger and he's the best in the biz atm...

I'm sorry if I fail to see why...

Ibra, Ballotteli, Arnautovic, Milito, Cassano... On top of who you have already. How many strikers is that? Seriously... because I have no idea who you have kept and who has gone. You already had too many... right?

Adriano is gone. Cruz and Crespo are out of contract. Suazo will be sold, was on loan at benfica this season. Acquafresca is part of the milito deal. Obina will be sold, isn't considered inter material by jose.

So ibra, mario, milito, arnautovic and cassano could work. But I suspect jomo will have to switch to 4-3-3 to keep everyone happy .

Didn't know abnout Cruz and Suazo... I reckon that a proper 433 could work... Cassano, Arnautovic and Ibra behind Milito and Ballotteli (swapping around of course...). Still smacks of hoarding... the greedy ponce. :)

Cassano isn't an outnout striker right? I'm not sure though...

Intersting...Last I heard, he was keen on United...

Cassano is a support striker like zlatan.

What I suspect he will do is this:

Cassano/Mario/Arnautovic Milito Ibra

Muntari/JZ/Motta Deco Cambiasso

Santon/JZ/Maxwell Samuel Chivu/Cordoba Maicon

JC

The reason I listed is because the rumors of him coming seems strong. That's the way I think mou is going to go if everything goes to plan in the mercato, never does but he can hope. Cassano and mario will probably rotate with arnautovic being his first season being a bit down the order but the season as long so he will get his chances.

Isn't Ballotteli an outnout striker though? I reckon for a future perfect combo, Cassano/Mario/Arnautovic would be killer. that is... if Arnautovic lives up to his hype.

On a side note... I hope hope Chelsea buy Edin Dzeko. Those Bosnians are hardnose bastards. I would know... ;)

Mario can play both roles. Mou has used him in both. I think he prefers the central striker role but he is still very good as a support striker.

Yeah - most can play both roles (look at Didi playing a little to the right for Chelsea...) point is he's best as an out and out striker. That was kinda my point. So it could be a killer future combination he has in his hands... don't you think?

Yeah could be a great combo.

I am still hoping Lippi sees the light and calls up mario and cassano for the confed cup and wc 2010. Too bad he is unlikely due to disliking their attitude.

Well they are twats... the both of them. Though I reckon a few nights in Soweto would sort them right out ;)

I would love to see some of the young guns here for Italy. I mean if he continues trusting the old guard... he will go the way of Ancelloti.

this unfortunately is the way of the Italians... NEVER call up up youngsters for international matches as they seem them as unable to cope...

I am really looking forward to next season, some very exciting transfer moves might be happening.

***a to Real
Ribery to EPL (Chelsea or Man U)
Deco can bugger off - good riddance
Carvalho might leave - :(

I wonder if a few might leave Arsenal?

I thought Ribery wanted to play Champions League football? Didn't Chelsea and Man United both get way further than Real Madrid?

Dumb move on Ribery's part imo.
