That sound like quite a system you looking to build , my opinion is contact the guys at www.computersonly.co.za and they should be able to set you up with a really good system , been dealing with them for years and the even overclock it to if you want that done.

Very tempted to splurge this cycle....I normally stick to <4k for graphics cards. AMD will probably get some money from me sometime late this year or early next year.

At $380 the 1070 is a very good value proposition considering it's more powerful than a Titan X or so they say, I doubt however that it's gonna land at R5700 in SA.

Hey all,

Strange request coming from someone who has been building PC's all his life, but here goes.

I'm looking for a recommendation for someone in Johannesburg or Pretoria that does PC builds to specification. I simply don't have the time to build the thing when I'm next in johannesburg, and will need to pre-built to spec so I can simply hand it to the courier that will send it back to Kenya for me.

I need some shop that really knows what they are doing though, and can source some pretty high end components.

Specifically:

I want HGST harddrives
I need a RocketRaid 3620 Controller
Motherboard must support Dual CPUs
Motherboard must take 192+ gigs of ram
Motherboard must be able to support at minimum enough PCI-E slots for 1 x Video card (will be a GTX980 probably), 2 x Raid Controller (which is a full size PCI-E card), 1 x PCI-E 8x 10G NIC
The case needs to be able to put 10 x harddrives (8 x standard 3.5", 2 x SSD)
Case must support Liquid Cooling of BOTH CPU's and have adequate fans for the drives.
Ram must be in the form of 16G DDR4 RDIMM's

Any suggestions as to who can do this kinda work and do it well please drop me a message.

Thanks

Check out Origin PC's Genesis Pro. It's not in SA, but they ship globally. They offer exactly what you're looking for.

Note the x-axis though....not really the comparison I think most people would be interested in.

Good marketing trick though.
80W less and more powerful than a Titan? And at half the price? Hmmm...

Of course that's at UK prices, with Titans starting at about £900 and 980ti's at about £500 at the moment. The 1080's (non founder edition) will go for around £450- £500.

Current prices will have to drop, but with that much performance for so little, who'd still buy a previous gen card?

Fire a mail off to wootware & rebeltech and see what they say.

Damn, can't we pre-order these before SA goes to Junk status? :(

I thought our status was confirmed, not down-graded?

Anyhoo, I'm putting about 12k aside for what will hopefully be enough for a 1080.... turns my stomach a bit thinking about that, but that should see me through at Least 2 years, hopefully 5 though.

Well my hype didn't last long.... Fortunately I know better than to just order HW. Embargo lifts on the 17th so I'm rather interested to see what actual benchmarks say. Hopefully more DX12 focused. Otherwise I may just go for a 9390 now and wait to see what happens next year.

With the current exchange rate the 1070 will be priced around R7500 from me.
