Okay so played a bit of Far Cry Primal, my 1660ti got to 45 degrees, CPU was hitting 50+ cause you could hear the fans pick up, when it cooled to 45 degrees drop down again. Ambient case temperature was also in the high 40s, not to bad considering how hot and humid it is.

Use custom fan profiles. The stock profiles I hate as the fans ramp up and down the whole time which is very annoying. I set my fans higher so things stay cooler, you have to play with the rpm to find a spot where they're not too loud and you are comfortable with the pitch of the sound.

Yup going to have to do that, was spending the afternoon redoing the case and trying to get the fan cables better hidden :( after the Bios flash on the mobo the fan profile has changed :(.

Anyone got tips on building a new pc setup for gaming and autocad design work without overheating in the hot weather?

Start with a case that has good airflow, there's a reasonably priced phanteks out that performs well, check out the gamers nexus case reviews. You add liquid cooling to that for the cpu and look for a gpus with a good cooler.

All depends on budget really.

Thanks whats a good place to order from as locally is terrible?

Okay where would I get fan screws? Or when the long radiator ones? As the old coolermaster clips make the fan rattle.

What are the fans mounted on?
The case :) the screws that came with the Raidmax fans are useless, so I found some old coolermaster clip in screws, but they are old and the fan isn't clipped in properly so it vibrates.
I found an old case that I pillaged some other screws on that worked on the one fan. But I've got no more unless I find another old case :).

ask a local pc shop, they should have some lying around.

I probably have some lying around somewhere but it's not worth the postage, where you located?

Roodepoort Johannesburg. I'll go ask around tomorrow, just thought there might be a screw kit I could buy.
Man I miss my old collection that I used to have, a massive collection over the years that just disappeared with each move.

matrix should have

Lol I also have a huge collection but after a move I'm not sure where it is, I'm pretty sure I still have them though.

I'm in Weltevredenpark and have a lot of screws lying around...PM me if you want to come take a look.

You can rig some washers up out of whatever's handy and squishy...double-sided tape, rubber, foam etc.

Thanks Neoprod, I'm going to pop by the nearest Matrix, if they don't have anything I'll give you a shout.

Built myself a workstation type PC using a Fractal Design Focus G case with three chassis fans (two front and one rear). This runs CAD and also far heavier workloads. The i7-8700 processor can run with all cores at 100% for extended periods without a problem. One advantage of this case is that it is light, making it more portable. https://www.fractal-design.com/products/cases/focus/focus-g/gunmetal-grey/

Is there a major difference in speed between the normal cable connect SSD's and these new fangled goed that goes directly onto the mobo? (I mean would the difference be more pronounced than say going from a mechanical HDD to SATA for example.)

Any good dependable SSD's you'd recommend? (Maybe one as a boot up drive, but then one also as a game drive)

Thanks pplz.
