The perfect network setup

Yup. The rats have to have a seperate entrance, Apartheid is alive and well even in Ncuntla.
 
I supplied someone with a unifi 6 lite and it arrived yesterday while I was doing some work at his place. He doesn’t post on here but he does post on carb. I’ll probably provide some feedback on his experience after a week or 2 of him using it. He’s always updating me on the goods he purchased from me ( and others) not for rating purposes, but just to share experiences on what he buys and how it works.
 
Depending on preference, either Ubiquite EdgeMax or Unifi would do the trick. However, whether or not to go 10GBe all the way is a different problem.

Setup your cabinet close to where you will move the ONT to, and you will need the following:

Server Cabinet and fan for cooling
Router (EdgeRouter or USG, go with Pro model if you have requirement to route Gbps Internet)
Switch (EdgeSwitch 48 500W / Unifi Switch 48 500W, they both come with two SFP+ ports for 10GBe)
Cat6a Patch Panel
Unifi AP (depending on your requirement, go with ac-pro/ac-nanohd/ac-hd/unifi-6-lr)
Unifi Cloud Key if going with Unifi products
Cat6a cable and tools to clamp and insulate properly
SFP+ 10GBe module with RJ45 port
UPS and power strips (if you don't already have on-site fail-over power)
Server / NAS to run your home lab

Cat6a cable will be sufficient for 10GBe, but only those that connects to the SFP+ ports on the switch gets 10GBe, it is usually your NAS and Server.

I would run fibre back to the house then have the 24port router connected inside the house. Much less cabling between house and garage, unless garage is part of the house structure?
 
Don't think many realize what I want/need done... Here's the plans of my house and new proposed structure...
Green circle is where i want to place the equipment, but i also have to consider efficient cooling.

That's one hell of a house.

I'd just make sure there are enough conduits with spare room & predrawn pull lines & no sharp bends. That should help future proof it.

I'd also consider splitting it into a mix of fiber and cat6e. Places like main media viewing room are realistically going to need a fatter pipe for 8K sooner than the other rooms

my existing structure is 15 years old and i sure learnt a lot to get things ready for the new structure.

I will also renovate the existing structure and get the conduits in one time.

double walls 35mm-50mm and single walls 35mm.

Want to do this properly right from the beginning.

15 years is still a newish house :) and that's a mansion, congratulations.

Hope you've got a decent builder - please start a thread when work gets underway and keep us posted.

You give really good advice, and is nice seeing people sharing experience and knowledge. 10gig backhaul from the server room to one or two switches to prevent long cable runs great, but not sure i would advocate much more than that in 10gig, and would use Cat6 not Cat6a. Your endpoints like the AP's will be 1gig.

We testing the U6 lite now, and cant wait for the U6lr to see what it can do. Will convert my 2xpro and 1xHD for them if they perform as anticipated.
 
General idea:
conduit - as fat as possible + draw wires
Ethernet cabling - cat6a
Fibre - not really needed - unless distance is an issue
Cat6a points - le grand faceplates in every room, and a point in every rooms ceiling

One must decide if you want POE or not - this will affect the switch choice.

Your WAN will for the foreseeable future not be >1Gbps

APS:
Aruba or Juniper Mist AP's - ideally with a cloud based controller and no need for onsite hardware

Then the oblivious. Make sure you have a network rack, ventilation for the rack, ensure all network points are patched to a patch panel, labeled etc. This makes life so much easier in the future. Also ensure there is backup power in some form.
