Don't need Tahir. He doesn't even play locally anymore if I remember correctly.
Morris seems to be out of favour with Biff. Maybe he doesn't play nicely with him and hence he's out for whatever reason.
Faf...they're clearly moving on.

BUT...Hendricks has shown that while he has the talent and the style he cannot translate that to anything. Miller...flash in the pan most of the time. Klaasen...doesn't deserve to be there. Williams and Fortuin? Pfft.

Andile, Linde, Janneman for Fortuin, Hendricks and Klaasen.

I just cannot seem to get behind supporting this team at the moment!

Victor takes input from both but ultimately he makes the call. Heard something ridiculous about selection consistency so form apparently means nothing... I would have taken Tahir, Morris & Faf if he was keen but hey we always loose so why not gamble
 
It's a difficult job picking the best squad as there no real stand outs! Lot's of bits and pieces players!

Mind you, Malan has shown he is the real McCoy, yet hasn't been picked? Very strange. Perhaps his strike rate is the issue but I think Qdk/Malan would be a decent opening pair capable of kicking the innings off nicely.

Morris must have something to offer if the IPL was so eager to acquire his services? Selectors obviously don't think so.

Faf retired from test cricket to focus on limited over cricket but alas, he is seemingly not required either.

Wouldn't say Maharaj just walked into the team, he's played 36 tests and 12 ODI's, been in the side and/or on the fringes since 2016.

Yes. Maharaj also did well in the CSA T20 and MSL so warranted his place.

He's also been a bit unlucky in a way as he had to compete with Shamsi and Tahir. He would have been SA's first choice spinner at any other period in history in all formats.

As bad as SA cricket is now its never been more spoilt for choice when it comes to wicket keepers and spinners.

Maharaj hasn't played one T20. That is seriously a big **** you to linde. Faf is miles ahead better than malan. I do not trust malan against quality spin bowling and he already starts slow. SA can't have a bunch of accumulators and expect miller to pull it off.

@JuliusSeizure Maharaj hasn't proved himself at one international t20. That is not merit for a world cup pick over linde who has proven his worth.
 
If Faf was available, then this is bullschit.

I saw somewhere that Morris wasn’t available, but can’t remember where.

Sad about Tahir. CSA doesn’t appreciate him.

When last did he play here? He has done well, but when last was he selected for any T20I, and what would be the criteria for his selection over someone who HAS been? Experience? Then they've done so with Miller in spite of him barely scoring.

Mmmmm, so Faf needed to commit to playing some international cricket to qualify for selection? Similar story to AB when he was hoping to get selected for the last ODI CWC?

Morris seems like, through his agent, made himself unavailable?
 
Ar ethey still our team though? I will support them through thick amd thin, but damn, of late they have been bad, very very bad.

Tahir was never going to be picked with the current spinners doing well.
Faf needed to make himself available for the other tours. Can't pick someone for the final group if he hasn't been available for the previous tours.

As for markram he is one of the few actually batting at the required t20 strikerate. Can question his record in odi cricket but not t20.

Linde is unlucky to miss out. His below par batting in the west indies like cost him the spot to fortuin.

It makes no sense to have maharaj or fortuin over linde. Maharaj hasn't played one international t20 game and linde has done better than fortuin. It must be quotas.
