Wanna take a bet we'll be underwhelmed?

No need to bet - that's a given.
More sin tax, more income tax and a whole lot of empty promises to curb wasteful government expenditure.

I think a downgrade to junk status will actually be a blessing in disguise to get these morons to realise that the taxpayer and economy don't have bottomless pockets. Let's get to rock bottom quickly and fix this mess rather keep on with this slow painful decline where government is not being forced to make the right decisions.

Exactly: more taxes, more talk of curbing expenditure...blah blah. I so hope he comes out swinging (especially after Zuma said Van Rooyen is more qualified than he is) and cut Zuma's cabinet in half. And not in 5 years time...fscking within the next 3 months.

That is not going to happen. Do you think Zuma's pals would take that sitting down?
Mr Pravin will tow the party line or else he and his family will likely be facing an early retirement (six feet under).

Sitting at R15.25 currently, doubt it will break the R15 mark soon.

Some good news must have come out for the USD to suddenly strengthen and stuff things up. :(

@ZAR. How dare you humiliate me on this public forum by not gaining to below R15 as I stated? Sies on you.
On a more serious note. The ZAR follows emerging market currencies that have been steaming up for some time but the steam seems spent now.
However. Gordhan will put some more oomph into it and send it up again but not for long as it has to go the same way as the exotic currencies. Down but at a smaller and normal pace.

Seeing as the budget speech didn't inspire any investor confidence in the local economy when do you guys think SA will be downgraded to junk status?
