It sounds like Maimane's OneSA, there's a lot of potential in that as communities becomes more and more disillusioned with party politics.

Good point actually, some of the language she uses does indicate an alignment with Maimane more than possibly ActionSA...

ActionSA still have a very large problem in my head, and it feels like Herman and his love for the EFF
Although ActionSA and the EFF are at complete opposite poles when it comes to the topic of immigrants and foreign owned business etc. ActionSA has xenophobic tendencies while the EFF wants to unite Africa and do away with colonial borders altogether. The xenophobia of ActionSA is their biggest selling point in some communities

I am not sure about ActionSA and the EFF being at complete opposite ends of the spectrum in relation to foreigners and immigration... The EFF has no stance other than the one at any specific point might gain them the most political mileage.

ActionSA's stance on immigration and foreigners is possibly a bit strong for my liking, but it doesn't necessarily equate to anything like the Dudula nonsense.

Not sure where you get the idea of Herman loving the EFF?

While I can't find an actual immigration policy document it is reported as being EFF policy, e.g.

Even going back to 2016

And far from gaining them the most political mileage it may have cost them in the recent local elections:

Mbali's departure is a big loss for the DA but hardly surprising because she has not been as vocal in pushing the party lately.

She was one of the few genuine people in the DA and SA politics, always holding her leaders to account and scrutiny be it Zille, Maimane or Steenhuisen.

Her progress to national parliament was almost definitely not made possible due to a fallout she had with Zille circa 2014.

Had it not been for that, she would have been one of the prominent DA leaders by now.

EFF are not the only ones who have been hypocritical on this issue.

The DA were dancing to Mashaba's tune in 2019 and prior and are now calling him out for xenophobia with support from their media plant Gareth Van Onselen.

I think it's pretty cool to try to involve independent candidates on national and provincial level, removing the dependency on party politics a bit.

The EFF has recently ditched that in a typical EFF flip-flop.
They're trying to copy ASA's stance over immigration by acting like idiots and interrogating businesses over how many foreigners they employ. In other words, a shite copycat move.

ActionSA is selling the "we need secure borders and we need to deport the illegals" point. Promoting strong borders/immigration laws is not automatically xenophobia.
Mashaba has in the past said that he has no problem at all with legal foreigners/immigrants, his problem lies with illegals and the gov basically leaving the country's borders open along with severe corruption and immigration fraud at Home Affairs.

Many South Africans share Mashaba's sentiment. Of course Dudula is stupid, it's a watered-down pogrom. Even Mashaba himself along with others has condemned Dudula.

If Cyril were to fire Cele tomorrow Juju would be in KZN on Saturday having tea with him, and the Fighters would see nothing contradictory, just as it happened with Zuma.

I think EFF have noticed that Asa could be a serious threat to them in the long run.

A big reason EFF grew so massively over the last ten or so years is because there was no real party that appealed to angry youth apart from them. Asa are changing that and I've seen that they now have youth wings at most of the Universities.

Juju is prepared to do anything to get to the Presidency apart from possibly trying to join the DA.

I definitely think that CR has enough info on him by now to end his political career but if there's one thing about Juju, he is a smart politician in his own way so it gets complicated as he definitely has dirt on a lot of ANC members.

CAPE TOWN - President Cyril Ramaphosa has called for the complete overhaul of the United Nations Security Council.

He said the international body should be more representative and criticised it for not having a single African country as a permanent member.

Ramaphosa was responding to questions in the National Assembly on Thursday afternoon.

His unexpected attack on the UN Nations Security Council followed a question about what the government’s plans are to ensure that the war in Ukraine doesn’t severely impact the country.

I think everyone noticed they are a serious threat.

As of now, ActionSA speaks to most South Africans from all walks of life, all races (that's a good thing). We saw them take both ANC and DA vote share in the LGE last year.
They have a mix of typical DA and other policies with a new spin on things like the immigration thing. They managed to pull both former ANC (Khoza, that I know of) and DA members (Baloyi, Trollip, Moodey, Beaumont).

By the looks of their Twitter, they're gaining a lot of ground in provinces like North West, Limpopo and Mpumalanga (typically rural provinces).

They also have the advantage of being a new party, with no stigmas or prejudices that can be used against them like with the ANC, DA or EFF.

I got to say they are good at misleading angry youth that doesn't know any better.

Serious? Links?

Maimane was reacting to the resignation of Mbali Ntuli from the country's second largest party on Thursday, saying by taking a stance of being colour blind, the party had set itself up as being unsympathetic to the pain of black South Africans.
Lol, Maimane trying to pull the race card again, like he constantly did when he was DA leader.

Do you realise by taking that stance of being "colour blind", the DA doesn't make the same mistakes the NP or ANC did by only focusing on one race? They focus on everyone?

Take a gander at their proposed replacement for BEE, surely if they DGAF about black South Africans, they would've done everything possible to exclude them from the policy instead of including them along with everyone else? That replacement states to help ALL of the poor and vulnerable, regardless of race or gender.

I've always got the feeling this guy is ANC-lite. Although I like his independent candidate movement thing, I don't really care for him that much.

Read this thread but I still don’t understand why Dudula is branded Xenophobic or radical. As far as I know(might be limited), they are a group of young people who started non violent protests against illegal immigration. They are usually accompanied by cops when they meet. As it stands, is there any evidence to suggest they are violent people?

Anyway the problem that I observed with South African politics is that no one wants to listen to people they already prejudiced so it’s almost impossible to change anyone’s mind politically. Blacks don’t want to hear Afriforum and VF+ side of things. Whites don’t want to listen to EFF etc. It’s the same problem that resulted in apartheid taking this long to end. Same reason why people can’t see SA beyond ANC.

Maybe people need to sit down and ask themselves what this Dudula people are complaining about and what steps have they taken before resorting to matching. Alternatively you brand them as thugs and they keep on growing until they also see you as the enemy.
