No, they learnt their lesson. Any party that associates with ANC is political suicide. Patricia will learn this too.

And they were yet to learn this lesson when they agreed to be part of Zuma's cabinet? Like they were still not convinced he was as bad as people were saying?

Yup. NNP is the best example. I think the ID (Pat's first party) also associated with the ANC which backfired on them, which lead to the ID working with DA and later merging with them.

That could be possible but we don't know now, do we? For all we know, there might've been vehement opposition from his caucus about it leading them to oust him in 2016. He was the leader after all.

Exactly, he could have just retired to enjoy his Ministerial pension for all we know, he was the Freedom Front leader for over 15 years, surely the time was going to come when he had to move on.

Unless there is a Freedom Front statement that he was removed for being in Zuma's cabinet, otherwise it's all speculation.

Political assassinations have always been tradition in kzn unfortunately... Now its just more obvious and all about getting access to the trough

Yup. Seems like the old fighting between IFP and ANC there has become a staple in the democratic South Africa era...

So what was the old fighting between ifp and anc still exists in the tribal sense from what I know, but the old political ifp/anc has largely folded into anc factions now.. So the beast is eating itself effectively.
