Just because Dabede did everyone know think they can.

Seems like the DP position is gonna be hotly contested, with everyone and their second-hand granny contesting...

The battle for the speaker in JHB is on the 26th. Sounds like the UF got their house in order.

Also, the UF is has submitted a motion of no confidence in Makhubele as chair of chairs (they're going to excommunicate her, and by extension COPE in JHB) for the 28th.

That's the first step. Now they need to get this rouge person out or drop COPE.

Jeez Herman, now the EFF are the enemy? What did you think was going to happen?
Did you notice the Oppenheimers money was nowhere to be found when the funding declarations were made recently? Something has changed, he even joined the bandwagon when that Limpopo MEC was criticised for her stance on illegal foreigners, kusinda kwehlela...

If the DA wins tomorrow, they'll win Prince Albert outright. Securing another muni for the UF.

ANC and PA aren't participating, getting behind KGP. The DA candidate is a KGP member who walked over to the DA. I hope the DA can give them a resounding thrashing like in Matzikama.
But this by-election is missing a big name. The ANC did not field a candidate. The party’s provincial structures did not respond to questions on why no candidate was fielded.

KGP and ANC coalition partner the PA also did not field a candidate. During his 100-day celebration as Central Karoo District Municipality mayor in July, PA president Gayton McKenzie said the party had given its word it would vote for a KGP candidate, despite calls for the party to field its own candidate.

It has seemingly dried up and Mashaba has been carrying the weight of funding the party alone these days, his change of tone is consistent with that.
Perhaps it was "new party" season just before an election? Hence why they got so much?

I mean recently the DA was far ahead in the pack when it came to funding, whereas ASA got only 750k to DA's 16 million. Whereas last year, they more or less got equal funding.

Maybe, but whatever the reasons I think it might be a little concerning for them, hence the confusion that has seemingly engulfed them recently.

Yeah.

Funnily enough, Dawie alleged in a WorldView interview that there was massive fighting between ASA and DA for donors and many loyal DA donors have walked over, etc. Going by recent declarations seems like it's not completely true.

What are the consequences of not declaring?

From the IEC:

What are the consequences of non-compliance with the Political Party Funding Act and its regulations?

The Act provides the Electoral Commission with a range of powers to ensure compliance with the legislation and regulations including issuing:
  • Withholding distribution of funds from the RPPF and MPDF;
  • The recovery of money irregularly accepted or spent; and
  • Imposing administrative fines (via the Electoral Court).
