Maybe I'm a bit "old school" in a way, a police officer should be a police officer and not tied to dealing with certain types of crimes. SAPS officers should be pulling over traffic violations, and Metro officers should be able to deal with murder/etc etc

Agreed. That's how the UK policing works, for the most part. But they do have "highway patrol" vehicles.

Should be easy to clear up. If she was suspended there should be processes, if as the university claims she was not then the student has egg on her face. If the university is covering up then someone should be held to account.
