Well, tbh, anything can happen in life. Maybe it will happen, maybe not. Maybe they'll just throw the EFF out of third place nationally?

And that 2% of the national vote came from only 6 municipalities nationwide. To make an example, VF+ competed nationwide, and they only got 2.37% of the national vote last year (.1 more than ActionSA, who only competed in 6 municipalities) And there's massive hype on social media for ActionSA, which could help them too.

I am sure KZN accounts for the greater share of the IFPs vote, they can even afford to close all the branches everywhere in the country and only be left with KZN and Gauteng, they will still be number 4 in the national elections, I bet you have never seen the Prince of Phindangene mobilizing in the North West or Northern Cape, even though they claim to be a national party.

Same with ActionSA, for now they are still a Gauteng party, the DA and the EFF has a presence all over SA, with all due respect to them some things are just too detached from reality, most parties start with a bang and fizzle out as expectations dampen down, ActionSA still has to go through that, the EFF was much more fortunate because they had Zuma, couple that with the pupulist rhetoric and they were able to almost double their vote share, what happened when Zuma was no longer there, they fizzled out.

Mashaba does not have all that, he does not Zuma, he does have a slightly populist rhetoric on foreigners but that is a problem because it might please his poor voter base but it conflicts with his suburban voter base who are obviously dealing with foreigners on a different level.

Hence, why I say, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with them in 2024. Because I'm genuinely hoping that they can pull it off along with the opposition parties to get the ANC out in 2024.

They are mostly Gauteng but they definitely can spread out if they are smart. They won a few wards in KZN so their policy is definitely enticing.

They just need to recruit smartly as they did with Trollip. Trollip should easily win them a few seats in 2024 in EC.

And look at what they are doing with Makhosi Khoza in KZN and tell me if that are all signs of a party that is definite upward trajectory, they have done well for their first election, they might also do better for their second but growing a party to be serious contender is nie pap en vleis, it's going to be a long and a hard road from here, a lot of infighting, ups and downs and challenges until they find themselves.

I am happy that they are investing in good initiatives like the political academy to ensure they are all on the same page but those are signs of a party that is in growing stages not anywhere close to being the main opposition.

Yes, there will also most likely be DA defections soon and Action SA would be smart to take the ones with decent followings as their followings will come along with them.

It's quite simple, they just want attention.

Seeking attention is part and parcel of being career politicians. Steenhuisen is a career politician.
Its a bit more than that.... its also the job of the Official Opposition to try and hold the current party in power to account, especially when that party isn't holding its own members to account.

Its kind of the thing the DA has to do really.

It will achieve fsckall, because the ANC has to vote on itself, and we know how that works *looks at the multiple No Confidence votes in Jacob*

I don't deny that, it's the job of all opposition and not just the DA.

Since Steenhuisen became leader, the DA have at times made it far too obvious that they are attention seeking. Mmusi and Zille at least offered constructive advice.

On another note, it will be interesting to see what Steenhuisen does when his term as DA leader ends.

Unlike the other leaders that came before him, he can't exactly retire from politics unless he gets a cadre deployed job with a contact somewhere. He has no qualification to fall back on.

He may not set himself up for WC Premiership as it seems Hill-Lewis is eyeing that role when Winde retires. If he on the off chance decides to take on Hill-Lewis, it may not end well.

The info about Madikizela lying about his qualifications very likely came from Hill-Lewis' camp so Hill-Lewis becomes ruthless when he is gunning for positions.

Well, the leadership conference is this year and the ANC factions are fighting each other like crazy...

So maybe, the motion is crazy enough that it just might work?

Nah doubtful..

The ANC are greating at closing ranks on things like this, even if they want to support it they won't out of "loyalty to the party"

Proof that Hill-Lewis wants to gun for the premiership after Winde? (He just recently became mayor of CoCT?)

Dunno, we'll have to see. Also will it be by show of hands or secret ballot?
