So I can see the logic in it to some degree in terms of keeping things simple, and in line with the current process where seats are allocated in a similar fashion for parties.

But at the same time I can see the problem in it if the independent candidate received significant votes to impact the 2nd and 3rd rounds of calculating seats.

Well, it seems like the ANC has regained some sense (probably only the Rama Faction).


But this also shows the stark difference between RET and Rama factions:

Rama - willing to work with the private sector (seems anyway), would opt for our current model of the economy (social market economy), doesn't see the constitution and judiciary as mere suggestions, doesn't have an extreme disdain for minorities like the RETs (P.S this doesn't make the Rama faction perfect in any way, I mean it's the ANC we're talking about here...)
RET - socialists/EFF-lite, would want a socialist economy, shows severe disregard for the constitution and judiciary, its high-profile members are infamous for corruption and fraud, and they also have an extreme disdain for minorities

P.S shitty photoshopped images shared like the below is frustrating to say the least, if you want to spread kak and misinformation at least do it right, like IOL:

Dunno. But he seems Rama faction aligned.

Classic ANC:
If the ANC does not come back above 50% during the 2024 elections, there will be no party that will replace us. The country would have to go into a coalition government and as we know, coalitions are very unstable seeing from the metros currently under this form of administration.

They certainly have potential but need to be very strategic. As I've mentioned before, Mashaba ideally should give up the leadership after 2024. He should not aspire to become what Zille is to the DA or what Malema is to the EFF.

The ANC have outlived so many partly because they avoided having too many cult-figures and were able to continue even after they left/were ousted.

Baloyi definitely looks like leadership material. He will be able to work well with Beaumont who is definitely the best in SA when it comes to stirring social media videos. The DA were not even able to respond to the mock YouTube video he made of them, lol.

They are on the right track, and there is probably nothing wrong with a little of ambition, but you don't go from being a 2% party to being the main opposition in 2 years. I will give them time to see how they build the party because big names are good but useless without voters behind them, they are still very much unstable in the Gauteng province where they are supposed to have a big presence.

But we'll see.

Well, it is lofty but they on the right track and made a good start. The question is whether they can maintain their current level of growth.

They won areas in DA and ANC strongholds last year (it may have been a first in history) plus they also seem to be appealing to the growing apathetic EFF voters who are starting to see through Malema.

Had it not been for Action SA, I doubt Malema would have been trying to slowly oust some of the Pan Afrikanist thought from EFF party policy as he is doing now.

Action SA are the first party to advocate a "South Africa First" policy without racial/cultural or ethnic connotations and its working well for them so far.

He's not exactly young and if they get someone like Baloyi, it will also prove that the party is youth centric and not overly dependent on Mashaba. One of the big critiques of Action SA is that it is overly dependent on Mashaba so he needs to ensure that it carries on winning support once he retires from politics.

Right now, Action SA needs to try and target the youth vote and these voters are mostly apathetic and quite frankly find the three main parties quite boring and filled with false promises.

Action SA seems to be the most appealing to them but this can obviously change depending on things that happen.

Well, tbh, anything can happen in life. Maybe it will happen, maybe not. Maybe they'll just throw the EFF out of third place nationally?

And that 2% of the national vote came from only 6 municipalities nationwide. To make an example, VF+ competed nationwide, and they only got 2.37% of the national vote last year (.1 more than ActionSA, who only competed in 6 municipalities) And there's massive hype on social media for ActionSA, which could help them too.

I also checked their stats for Gauteng, they almost got 3rd place on a provincial scale (EFF is ahead of them by 2.46%) in last year's LGE.

The problem with Gauteng is they only competed in the three metros, they should have a bigger footprint if they start to compete in the whole province.
