The Sony X1 Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Cool no problem, if anyone needs the stuff, I can put it on DVD and send to you. We can then go through the setup. It is really so easy. I just loaded the safety cameras. :D

Hey... must have missed this, but where can i get the safety cameras from?

home2 very cool...as nice as tf3d, but less intergrated apps and no SA weather, but could be my new fav panel...tnx for sharing

HERE IS BELL GUI....
Havent found way to install on x1 though

Nice thing about a WM phone (my first one) you able to find software to cater for almost all your needs :-)

Using your flash as a torch :-)

I think you missing my point I know you can get third app for all that I mentioned(except the change song with vol buttons). It just feels as though sony concentrated so much on creating the awesome hardware and physical side of the phone they neglected the small things that make SE an SE....you know what I mean?

As an email terminal, mobile web browser, PDA it is awesome. As a phone...hmmmmm

True of all WM phones. It's a sacrifice you have to be prepared to make if you want to go over to the dark side.

Oh i see what you mean yeah no for sure, the X1 is hardly a SE phone as we know it more a HTC i would say.

yea, home2 is pretty cool... just a pity no sa weather whatsoever... wonder how much they gonna sell the "pro" version for?
also, you cant really customize that much..

what panels are your favourties? say top 3.

Also, noticed that i dont have the xperia today panel after hardspl and rom upgrade?

I would say the top three panels are;

PointUI-home 2
SPB panel
Sony Ericsson panel1/2

not specifically in thaqt order though

media manel also cool for weekends and multimedia and fish panel also rocks lol!!!

yea, cant decide on mine... i think, if the "pro" version of home2 comes out with sa weather (jhb), and more customizable stuff, then i think i will go for that... i love the movement of it, and it looks awesome too.. but, they said there will be a fee? wtf? its a panel for heavensake!

yeah that panel is quick.... i like it. gonna try install some applets on it now

Apologies for deviating from the thread.

But can any of you pls assist me with installing TomTom (which seems the be the forum favourite as far as GPS go)

Would greatly appreciate the help.

New panels from SE

http://www.sonyericsson.com/x1/index.aspx?en-gb

Check it out... 3 - 4 new panels from SE will be available from the 31st march... YAY!

EDIT: Skype: See at a glance which of your contacts are online, easily call or instant message them in “just a couple of clicks,” and as far as I can tell from the pre-release material, there’ll also be some kind of graphical customisation using evening, daylight, or event based effects.

CNN: Live news sport and weather direct to your phone and access to i-report (CNN’s citizen journalism tool.) You can browse news by category, tell it what you’re interested in and get it to send you local news based on your phone’s location

On the road: a driving panel. gives you big touch buttons and simplifies call handling / media streaming / GPS tools.

Mytopia: Gives you access to the online bingo and poker games on mytopia.com

Definitely gonna be getting the Skype one! On the road would come in handy too, but then... so would GPS. LOL!!!

somehow managed to mess up my gps settings.. i think i went into settings> external gps> and changed all the settings there...

can some one please read me what info they have in that secion... something with program com ports, and device com ports etc...

i thought, since there is a built in gps, i turned all that stuff off.. but it seems the phone needs those settings...

thanks.

Yo Nick

Not sure if this is what you're referring to but I have the following:

GPS Program Port: COM4

GPS Hardware Port: (None)

Baud Rate: 4800

And I have the checkbox ticked next to Manage GPS automatically (recommended)

N.B. - These are all default settings.
