The Sony X1 Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

was thinking ill have to cross that bridge when i got there
im still using touch x
thing is i cant get into the boot screen, but will try to flash via pc when i get home
thing is will they even check what rom is on? i mean if i cant change it myself, will they be able to see wats going on?
 
ok, it was the battery
left it in the wall charger for bout 3 hours and came back and it was charging
so the bat probably drained out last nite, which is weird cos i remmeber checkin that it was 60%?
oh well, its all good now

same happend with me two nites ago, batt was over 50% but the morning was dead, plugged in charger but no luck, then left it for half hour n tried switching on, it worked, apparently it does that at times according to the manual but yeah I understand what u say wen its supposed to be 60% n suddenlys mors dood!

Wow, glad your X1 is up and running again. But, its scary that the bat would die overnight like that.

Valkyrie 2.2 has been giving me 2 major bugs.

- the phone freezes often
- the phones goes to sleep and does not return when pressing power button

I've upgraded to 2.3.2 and so far, I have notice one bug. After a while, when I connect the USB cable, the phone does not give me connection options, instead it goes to internet mode automatically.
 
ya it was strange indeed
anyhows i just installed 2.3.2 now and checking it out, seems quite nice

man i love these custom roms, its like a brand new phone every time!!

but ill be changing back to stock soon - found a crack beneath the battery cover, hope they sort it out without too much hassle
 
haha version 2.3.2 is SO LAST SEASON

downloading 2.4 ;)

Hey Guys

I dunno if anyone can relate to this problem but here goes.

I am still running Touch X, rather happy with it but with anything after a while it seems to get a little slow so maybe will try Valkyrie.

Anyways last night trying to reply to a sms typing on Qwerty the phone just goes and off and reboots (happened before thought at the time it was a low batt). So long story short this happens 3 times in a row and in the end had to use the touch screen to send the sms, also when it rebooted i lost the sms that I received and wanted to reply to?

Just wondering do you guys think that its a hardware issue or is it a software bug maybe. I cant say where exactly i pressed on the qwerty as it happened while typing different parts of the sms.

In the end i took the battery out for a bit and so far it seems to be ok, touch wood. Sent a few emails this morning and it didnt do the reboot thing.

Anyone know where i can get the copy of the lasted generic rom from sony just in case i need send my phone in for repairs.

Oh one other thing that i find a little pain is that i the touch screen keyboard always resets to the standard one rather than the nice FingerKeyb(thanks kvi). Anyone know how i can keep the FingerKeyb as my default.

hey Zero

try a hard reset??? sounds software like.... maybe nows the chance to switch to Valkrye :)

all original ROMS, including Vodacom ZA ROM is available to download from the XDA forums. (there is a thread there with original roms) so you dont really need to "store" a rom for just in case.

same goes with the hardSPL, you can "un hardSPL" at any time, ive done it for warranty purposes and it works . so no worries there.

TouchX was and is an awesome ROM, however many of here as you see are using Valkrye Firestorm (now on version 2.4)

Faster than Touch X, almost as reliable, AND ITS WINDOWS MOBILE 6.5, which once you use you will never go back :)

Just downloads the first half of Valkrye Firestorm 2.4 now and the other one should be downloaded by end of day.

Will try installing it later this evening.

Just one thing i have never been able to do a hard reset on my phone. I keep the 2 functions buttons down and well as the volume button and reboot. My X1 just reboots as normal

Any thoughts guys
 
hehe thats not hard reset

hard reset is... two function buttons AND push stylus into reset button hole inside battery cover.... takes a bit of practise, and then follow onscreen prompts

Will give that a go though i think i have a hardware issue cause even now when i slide out to use the qwerty the screen goes blank and seems like the phone goes into sleep mode now that i have loaded Valkyrie, with Touch X it would reboot. I don't get to slide the keyboard completely out, heck not even halk way then the screen starts go blank.

So beside loading a stock rom and re loading the stock spl, anything else you guys can suggest that i do so that i dont have any issues when taking my phone in for repairs.

Will keep you guys updated what they have to say.

Lastly any suggestions where is the best place in Cape Town to take it to for repairs. MTN Canal Walk maybe?

Back to the my trusty W900 for a while then.
 
try load a stock rom for now and see what you get

I posted the problem on xda and another user had the same problem and it didnt matter what what rom he had installled stock or custom. The problem unfortunately didnt go away.

So can anyone suggest where is the best mtn store to take my phone to have it repaired?
 
cant help you with CT .... im in jhb, have no clue. hope you get stock rom and hardspl sorted nicely first
 
hey guys
anyone having a problem downloading valkyrie 2.4 from the ftp site?
i downloaded it twice and both times the download ended on 55%. i cant use the rapidshare route cos i use vodacom 3g to connect and it keeps logging me out...

also, which valkyrie is better? experio or firestorm?
 
Thanks but not worries i found out that supposedly it does not matter as all the branches send the phones to the same place etc.

So do the necessary bit tonight and take it back tomorrow. Hopefully i dont get any issues from them.

Lets see what happens from there
 
hey guys im struggling to revert back to stockspl
iv tried everything... lol
been reading thru xda for 3 hours last nite, none of their suggestions work
everything is fine till the boot screen comes on, and it just stays there at the tricolour screen with usb written in the white bottom bar and it gives a connection error 284
tried with and without sd card, ticking advanced block in connection etc..
any suggestions?
wanna take my unit to get the cracks sorted, but dont wanna risk losing the warranty
will it make a difference? already installed the stock rom - just need to do stock spl
