The Tattoo Thread

Indeed they are good. Keepsake also seems to be getting there
Keepsake ftw! Cheaper than Wildfire and they are the most amazing couple I've ever met - Janine and Marcus read people like a book and have designed beautiful tattoos for me when I've had no clue what I've wanted.

Yeah let me elaborate on that...
So I am going to be wearing a permanent piece of Japanese anime/manga styled art. And for that, I needed someone who could do the actual work and keep it real. Keepsake weren't up to the challenge for example they don't exactly do the toons, BUT I will support them still, for other kinds of tattoos.
The thing is, it comes down to skill and various factors. I certainly didn't need anyone to read me like any book. I know what I want, put considerable effort into making sure it is what I wanted.

No tattoo artist can ever be everyone's answer to anything; they all have their own preferred styles / what they are exceptional at, so different tattoo's are likely to require different artists, even on the same person (I currently have 3 separate artists work on me). For me personally though, a friendly, open, chilled and easy going person is always a plus. Spending hours with somebody who you cannot even carry on small talk with is torture; more so than the needles :P

Luckily the artist I'm busy with for sleeve has added bonus of "read like a book". I showed him one image yesterday, and a quote about the character, and he immediately started mentioning additional elements that were in my head but I hadn't mentioned yet. It's awesome when you're on the same wavelength :) Friday cannot come quickly enough!

Precisely... Most artists looked at what I want done and said.. erm no...
It took a long time of searching and asking around and visiting studios until I found Jose at Hoodoo. And he loves toons, I mean he even spoke about me considering a Ninja Turtle on my other arm or shoulder.. And yes, when the game characters are done I am likely going to have someone else work on the rest of me

At least they were honest and weren't out to make a quick buck.

I'm just the kind of person who feels when I need a tattoo - I know what I want it to mean, and they help me with the symbolism of it

/edit

None of my tattoos are hectic artwork. I just have 13 dainty symbols all over

In life I learnt you either go big or go home, so yeah, its a serious committment for me. Its also full colour

That old saying of "It's not the size that counts" is probably only true for tattoos, IMHO  The only thing that truly matters, is that you are happy with them.

My first tattoo was a good old celtic knotwork "tramp stamp". That's now part of a full back piece (2nd tattoo). Ink is more addictive than most substances I've tried.

I love them and each and every one of them symbolises a part of my life - my cancer, my ex husband coming out, my kids, my fight for life, etc
