Right, enough *****footing around this topic. Time to call it like it is...
To all those greedy executives, a wake up call:
99% of your fellow countrymen would be ecstatically happy with one tenth of the salary you demand you greedy little pig. Why then can’t you be happy with your obscenely privileged position in life...?
What is wrong with your sick little brain that you cannot be happy with R1million a month?
Why would you ever need a raise?
Why would you ever try to negotiate more share options?
Has the remuneration committee forced the 25% increase on you?
You sad little glutton. If this job is so demanding and you hate it so much that you will not do it for less than R1million a month, please do everybody a favour, go find a job that you actually enjoy doing. A job that gives you some fulfilment in your life, a job that makes you feel good at the end of the day because while you draw that greedy salary you are not doing your fellow citizens any favours. If however, your talent is to be a corporate leader, then draw happiness from the opportunity you have to exercise your talent and creativity. Be respected by your fellow South Africans for your skills and your contribution to society and be happy. You don’t have to grab such a greedy chunk of the salary budget every year, you just deprive the rest of us. Get your fat little snout out of the trough to let the masses of your fellow workers get a little time to nibble at your leftovers.
But while you fight tooth and nail like a stray cat in heat for more and more money, all you are doing is tearing our society apart. You earn so much money and wield so much power that you live in your own little bubble where you insulate yourself from the shareholders and taxpayers who pay that R1million salary every month.
The greatest social evil comes when these talented citizens who benefit so richly from society but do not contribute those talents back to the society that endorsed their extremist remuneration. In return these talented members of society shirk their responsibilities to the communities that support them by sending their children to private schools, going to private hospitals, using private security companies and relaxing in private members only golf clubs generally living a privileged lifestyle where they don’t have to acknowledge the rest of society. Some of you won’t even leave your home or office to go shopping lest you rub shoulders with the average man. You have minions who will bring your clothes, food, artworks, etc to you so that you can shop in the peace, comfort and safety of your own home or office. This is the ‘new apartheid’, if you can afford the price you get a place in the sun otherwise bad luck. This is the height of scorn for your fellow citizens. Why do they tolerate you?
These talented ultra-rich people are not invested in public schooling, public medical care, public security, public transport, public recreation or any plight of the average man. They have essentially unplugged from their communities and no longer care about the schooling system, the medical system, the police or public access to beaches, mountains or parks. They have thrown the rest of the citizens under the bus to fend for themselves and selfishly hog their talents for their own gluttonous exploits.
Now please tell me what is preventing people who work with you, who earn so little that they cannot afford a weather proof home with running water and electricity or access to reasonable healthcare, from treating you with the disrespect you deserve?
All I have said above goes equally well for our gluttonous elected officials. Should we be surprised if the next time a minister or mayor visits a township in their Rmillion 4x4 only to have the voters set fire to the offensive waste of their taxes? I am surprised they don’t strip these greedy little hypocrites naked and chase them out of the township on their pampered bare feet.
