No cheese, or cheesy jokes, please :p :D

Anyways, I have managed to install the Informix client, and Borland's DBExplorer.

I also have set the SQLHOSTS up with setnet32, everything is correct as if on a true windows installation.

However, I have issues with the following :

The hosts and hosts.equiv files - I have to assume that Wine uses the host OS's files, but it doesn't seem to be the case as DBExplorer is unable to find the informix server as specified in the hosts file.

Anybody have some pointers regarding the hosts and hosts.equiv files?

Regards

Libs

Please take this question to Wine's own forum,
http://forum.winehq.org/

Also please give steps to reproduce the problem,
including where you downloaded the apps from.
Assume that the person following the recipe isn't a database person,
and say exactly what to click, etc.

For a first post that's pretty... um... descriptive....

I'm going to update my Ubuntu again come month end.... I have somewhere around 400MB to update.

This is why I got a 2Gb local-only prepaid account from Axxess, it covers all my update needs in Ubuntu.

Anyways, back to Wine.

What applications have you guys got running under Wine so far?

I've got eSword running, Windows Commander as well. Also, HOMM4 (and older) will also work on Wine :D

@ mod - thanks for sticky-ing this thread! :)

I must be honest, I hardly use wine. I think with the stable release I'll start to use it more.

Anyone managed to get Guild Wars working under wine without the mouse icon problem? My mouse flickers and frequently disappears when running Guild Wars.

Off topic here, but the DanKegel who posted here is one of the big Wine developers, as well as working for Google. For him to have found Libs' post is pretty amazing, I guess it means that this site came high in a Google search or something.

I really think Wine is doing a great job at what they do, and I think the pace is going to pick up bug time now. I will give it a go as soon as I can again, and see what apps I can get running.

Do a Google search for "Franks corner WINE" and you will be directed to "Franks' Corner" webiste.

Now what is so special on this site I hear you ask, well, if there is an application that runs under WINE, then there will be a detailed tutorial on said site, from games to office apps, if it runs, it is there!

Sorry, no intl. bw so cannot provide a direct link.

EDIT:
http://frankscorner.org/
There you go!

Thanks for the feedback - but I think we won't be going the Wine route after all...

Mr Librarian, super WINE thread hey! Really awesome...
When is WINE bringing out support for CS3 products? That's one of the reasons I'm still stuck in Windows with some programs...
