The Witcher (Netflix) - 2019/2020

I think it is cool, the trailer touched on enough lore, as long as it is true to The Witcher stories and Saga I am happy. I consider to read the original comic series, the new comic series is based on the video games.
I've heard other fans say they like it, so the opinions are pretty split. The discussion I had with someone who liked it ended with us agree it looks unpolished.

I have seen various game reviewers do a trailer review and many opinions are how it is mispresenting CD Projekt Red’s work, which didn’t create The Witcher.

It is a big-budget production, so I hope Netflix will rival HBO’s Game of Thrones in production value. Just in for notice, the original polish TV series, to quote Wiki:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hexer_(TV_series)

The series has been described as better than the movie which preceded it, but the poor critical and fan reception of the movie, which was described as a glorified, incoherent trailer for the TV show, was cited as one of the reasons for the series cancellation after 13 episodes.

:whistling:

Netflix has also pulled Andrzej Sapkowski in as creative director, and the series will be based on his novels which is quite frankly much richer than the video games. Just like Game of Thrones there will be differences.

The showrunners are the two guys from The Expanse. Sean Daniels also produced The Mummy, and the schit which followed, so yeah… fingers crossed. The production team is also working on Shadowman, much will be expected from them for succeeding with The Witcher. At least their production will be based on original works for The Witcher.

I prefer the novels and have read all but the latest. I just hope they get the production value right. I'm worried it comes out looking like a syfy movie or something similar.

Someone who has never heard of it will have no clue and the trailer will seem confusing, because it is.

Isn't that the point of a teaser/trailer?

Anyway, looked a bit weird on my first watch but after re watching it a couple of times I'm excited for this

To us, who know what a Witcher is, it's fine. Look at it from the perspective of people they want to interest, but have no clue what it's about.

It's a mess.

*possible spoilers*I read all the books preceding the first witcher game as well as played witcher 1,2 3 and its expansions so pretty hyped for this series. It looks like they'll be exploring the origins of how yennefer became a sorceress which hasn't been explained in the books.

The only slighty off putting thing for me is that the actor playing triss looks completely different to the game triss and it seems there won't be american accents like with Triss and Geralt which would be a bit odd at first.

Geralt looks fine. Yennefer and Ciri should be hotter though. Triss is also missing.
Triss sadly isn't missing, she just looks very different with an English accent as well at 0:45 in the trailer.

Ah I see it now. It could work if she dyed her hair. They wanted to put in some people of colour it seems.

Yeah, could work to be fair.Just need to give her an american accent as well as she's supposed to be warmer and more down to earth than the colder aristocratic yennifer.

That is sooooooo much better!
That first trailer was absolute garbage. A mangled mess.

Here in two minutes they introduced who and what the Witcher is and hinted at what the main plot is about and the Witchers motivations while showing off some action and fan service.

How anybody liked that first trailer boggles the mind.

Don't know why they had to go and POC Ciri, but still hoping the show doesn't go full retard. It can't be that hard to make a good witcher show with a decent budget, can it?

Cannot wait for this!

Are they starting at book / game 1?
