No the dollar gained some grounds due to the possible interest rate hike and investors are a bit cautious of investing in emerging markets, also the lower than expected GDP rates didn't help :-(

Wasn't the interest rate dovish? People are expecting it but would think NFP rally is causing all the strength?

Possibly that, last I saw it was related to the US interest rate hike strengthening it.
 
Ugh, R13.24/$. Zuma rekking his bek again?!
European central bank interest rate announcement that's due. Also our negative GDP can't help. Expect it to get even worse by Wednesday's Fed rate announcement.

I wish people would stop focusing on Zuma as if he's so important that he rules the world.

How is EU interest rate effecting the USDZAR
 
It won't affect the USD-ZAR at all.

Technically it would if they announced an increase in interest rate. Money would flow from emerging markets like ours and the ZAR would be weaker across the board
