Big issues for retailers when customers shop around given price change with the CC which will sniff around as in the past which currency re-corrects.

I think all is not saved though. Eskom's financials will be atrocious and if Zuma is still in office i see the ZAR dipping fast.. they, the ANC, will need to time Zuma exit with the release such that they offset it slightly. Then its all about SONA, Budget speech, impact of VAT increases and court cases.
 
hasn't the #TrumpShutDown got something to do with this as well?

Side note: Post Puma - can we expect levels stay below $1 / R12 ?
 
No, I haven't. I'm asking for a prediction.

for the past 20 odd years SA has effectively been a major net importer, only last year was there a significant turnaround, so yeah, I don't think the exchange rate has much to do with it, not in the way textbooks suggest
 
Seems the news sites are sleeping, they haven't reported anything as yet
 
11.97 to the $ sounds sweet when you about to make some online orders .. Just hope it stays for a while.
