^ this, I'd bet money on him not going before the national election, but I would start worrying more and more about him leaving even after the election

He'll probably be gone after this weekend. They don't want him to do the state of the nation address. This weekend is the very last chance they have to accomplish this before the state of the nation address.

Want to make a friendly wager? It would be a bet I'd gladly lose of course.

EDIT: also there's 3 weekends left before SONA including this coming weekend right?

I have my doubts about Zuma leaving before SONA. I think if he does, the disruption the peeps who support him will be equally bad. I guess it boils down to Ramaphosa showing he is the leader and not taking crap from people.. but time will tell with a divided political party

I think the issue itself is they only have this one meeting before SONA. This is where it will have to happen, else no dice. I could be wrong though.

Ah yes, this weekend is the "annual January Lekgotla", whatever that is, but the NEC meets regularly and they can always call a special meeting at any time to effect a removal. Like Zuma did late in the night to boot Pravin.

Anyway, I wouldn't get my hopes up for the ANC meeting schedule or any other miracle to remove Zumatello. Our glorious leader will give the SONA speech and brag about free education and lambaste that ever evil WMC, mark my words.

it will be sad for them to deny us the SONA entertainment we expect annually these days

He'll also take credit for the police minister finally firing that criminal Mdluli, and proudly claim progress on state capture charges and money recovery by the AFU.

No doubt, and someone, somewhere in the press will herald it as yet another masterful move by the chess god even though any idiot can predict it and we would have it in writing right here 3 weeks before SONA ...

Not that it means anything but:
Operation 'Get Zuma': Could This Weekend Be The End?
There is general consensus among organisers and confidants on Team Ramaphosa that President Jacob Zuma cannot deliver the state of the nation address. What now?

Amen, it doesn't, the press has been falling over each other to get the latest Zuma-going prediction out. They've lost all credibility on the topic and that is even before you factor in HuffPo's traditional lack of credibility :D

You never know, one day they might get it right.

1 US Dollar equals
12.04 South African Rand

Coming close to breaking R12 today....

Rand will definitely break the R12 barrier and possibly into the later half of R11, now we just have wait for them to confirm that it's leaving office.
