That's so sad, and it pains me that you take pleasure in the downfall and demise of what obviously still brings pleasure to others, though obviously not to you.

I have a very different view.

Though I haven't been to the cinema in years, I rejoice that they exist. The last thing I want is a world so small and narrow that it reflects only my own preferences, tastes and budget.

For example, I like it very much that there are still cars I would never buy - they suit other people with different tastes and budgets. I am very pleased that others can find pleasure or at least utility in things that hold no appeal for me.

I like it very much that there are still cinemas and theatres and movie houses and flick houses.

I actually wish there were more. And more variety, such as bio-cafes and flea pits and bug-houses and drive-ins, and so on.

(No doubt changing technology and economics has had an effect, and so too has human perversity (video and movie piracy), and, I suspect, the general decline in the quality of movies, reflective of our culture's current philistine phase.)

I delight very much in the very great variety and rich diversity of people and entertainments and books and media and devices and music and websites and clothes and accommodations and people and races and cultures and languages and foods and channels and eateries and malts and wines and liquors and cheeses and countries and operating systems and coffees and chocolates and candies and biltongs and bacons and shoes and liturgies and furniture and seasons and flowers and trees and people and insects and birds and mammals and reptiles and tastes and poems and colours and smells and fuels and gadgets and people and mountains and rivers and coastlines and plains and violins and orchestras and instruments and pool hoses and hats and medicaments and ties and people and tastes and preferences and ... and the ten million things that instantiate, manifest and reflect the awesome incredible magnificent splendiferous shimmering beauty of creation. Especially people. Did I mention people?

I for one am glad the cinemas are still going. Perhaps I shall visit one this year, just to delight in the experience. Emperors and potentates of yore would have given half a kingdom to experience what you wish away.

You only have one life. I suspect your anger will mitigate and your joy will increase if you abandon your hope for the downfall of cinemas. Recognise that others still enjoy the cinema, and are willing to pay for it, even if you don't and aren't. In your own self, may I suggest you grant more space to others and their tastes. You will find, paradoxically, that this attitude will enhance your own living with greater relish and gratitude.

In the meantime, I hope cinemas revive. I hope we build more than we break down.

The graphics of the ad&overall tone implied a theft scenario & not a reminder for forgetful people.

Why are we paying R100 per ticket if they cannot make sure that only paying customers enter the cinema.

Most criminals in this aspect are opportunistic in that if they are there and you show you an easy target they will take your stuff.

I know someone flying into South Africa on an international flight where his laptop got stolen on the plane. Put his laptop in the overhead compartment and took the flight landed at OR Tambo and got his laptop bag and thought this is light, opened it up and his laptop was gone. Thieves are everywhere

That is a worry of mine when flying. Knew I wasn't being paranoid without reason, that has to suck.
