Would like some feedback from the techies before I splurge :D

Intel Core2 Duo (E8200) 1066/1333FSB
(not sure on mobo yet ... some Pearl Creek Intel one I think)
2Gb DDR2 800 Ram
200GB Sata2 HDD (x2)
20x DL DVD-RW (x2)
XFX 9800GTX 512mb .... (ooh yeah)
720W PSU
LG 19" LCD (x2)
And of course - Win XP

Total comes to round about R13 500 (maybe slightly less) ..... good price for the system? Anything I should add or subtract? Any info at all is good info :D

Do you plan on overclocking? I sincerely hope so ;)

In which case you might be better off getting a non-OEM motherboard.

Why get 2x200GB HDDs? That combination is really not cost effective.

No .... /me is overclocking retard remember :D No OC for me bru .....

.... An alternative suggestion? I just like the idea of 2 seperate drives but I am tech challenged so I'll take advice :D

2 drives are nice but (do you even get 200GB HDD in 3.5"???) ie a 250 costs around R570, so two would cost R1140. For that price you can get a decent 500GB (which start at R950). That's R200 more you can spend on a motherboard or better RAM or whatever.

I just partition my hard disk. Is more than good enough for me. I would rather buy one 500GB now and save up and buy another later on.

Suppose that makes sense .... it's just that the system comes with a 200Gb so I thought I'd add another one. Wonder if I can just request a 500Gb instead. Shot bru :D

I agree about the 200GB HDDs.

Why 2 x 19" monitors? 1 x 22" or even 1 x 24" would surely be better?

2x19" has more surface area than a 22" or even 24" but that is not the issue. (Although I would rather upgrade to 2x22/24"). You have a lot more desktop space. For most people that is the issue, rather than having a bigger single desktop.

I was gonna get 2x 22" but decided the money needed to go towards that 9800GTX instead :D And I need to have 2 monitors .... just to make use of aforementioned GFX card ... plus it would be handy to have work and mybb going at the same time :p

OCing is REALLY REALLY simple, seriously, with a nice board, all you have to do is increase the FSB and test it until you reach it's limit, from there you can leave it or increase the vcore a bit more and find it's ultimate limit.

Seriously, 2 options in the bios, and 1 or two apps to test stability.
Go on, it's lovely!

the whole point of 2 HDD's is one for OS/Games and lets be honest, the games easily push 10GB's on your drive each. And then the other HDD for data/pictures/movies/backups etc. if one HDD fails and that's not uncommon you don't need to rebuild your whole PC and/or lose all your data.

I say stick to 2 drives. Sizing is your opinion. Maybe a 160 (OS) and a 500 (data) or something.

I think it's more to do with the 'oh fsck ... it busted' and bye bye cash than attempting it (which I really wouldn't mind doing actually). :o

Exactly what I was thinking ....... one for OS and one for backup/storage. I can always add more as the need for space increases.

Eish! I would much prefer the 2 x 22" to the GTX but I guess you are gonna be doing some serious gaming then?

Might I suggets 2 x 20" at least in that case? Noticeably bigger than 19" and often not a whole lot more expensive.

Hmm ... will have to see about cash squeezing (an extra 400 or so) :D It's not just gaming .... the GIS work I sometimes do will benefit too.

Id' say wide is better but it depends on what you are gonna do with them really...

Seriously? Hmm .... gaming, movies and GIS work (every now and then) ... and sit on MyBB talking kark of course :D
