Who said you can't stream 4K on VDSL?
 
For what it's worth, the TV is a KU7000 is UHD (3,840 x 2,160).

The stream I used show multiple quality options on a PC (below). I also tried multiple UHD streams on both a PC and the box - but the box only goes to 1080 in any stream.

20mbps VDSL can, in fact, stream both HDR and UHD content assuming it's running at peak. Mine gives 19+ continually which is just enough for HDR UHD. Most places (ie Netflix) do recommend 25Mbps+ for the user experience and headroom - but I promise you my VDSL can do it.

Because you need more than 20MB to manage 4K.

So the App might very well not even offer the option if it was that intelligent.

Okay fair enough, but then Netflix's algorithm is also quite dynamic so you never really if what it says is the UHD profile is actually the UHD output.

But what I didn't consider is that you can of course pause YouTube and let it buffer.

Either way you've resolved my question as to all the parts fitting so the box obviously the limiting factor here.

I didn't believe it either and a few months back, would have chuckled at someone telling me they stream UHD on VDSL. But I do have a very strong VDSL (19Mbit+) and it works for me.

Amazon has the same dynamic algorithm and the bottom info changes per output HDR > HD > 1080 > Ultra HD in about 3 minutes (no pausing or buffering). Netflix on my TV doesn't show the output - but on the PS4 it does, so I can confirm there. YouTube (on my TV) also shows UHD.

Yeah but rememebr inside that "profile" there are still multiple steps of resolution and quality as well.

So sure maybe you hit the very bottom range of UHD, but a 40MB line is still going to hit even better quality.

But it's good news as I'm on 20MB as well and yet to switch to 4K.
 
If app does not show 4k and box is connected to 4k TV then it simply does not support 4k YouTube. Internet speed is not relevant. You can change setting and buffer 4k on supported devices. At launch they might release modified apk. My mecool with same specs except 16gb space flashed with androidtv ROM does 4k YouTube . Option should appear
 
While messing around I learnt the PS4 also doesn't output UHD via it's internal app. Interesting!
 
Yea Pro works ... I'll probably get one soon.

But the standard has the ability to with - as far as I know - HDMI 2.0. Processing power isn't an issue, so obviously deliberately dumbed down for people to get the Pro. I just always assumed it did (it does HDR) :)

Was too much an issue ... never really tried again. My TV is mounted and I live alone, so can't move it to get to it directly. I guess I could use the AV amp, but hat's HDMI 1.4 ... wanted to use a full HDMI 2.0 > HDMI 2.0 to make sure nothing was in the middle of the chain.
 
I received my LIT box today and as I knew something will go wrong.

The box went through the setup process and did not ask to sign in or register a google account?
The google play store is also missing the only way to install app is to side load.

The only app installed by default is Showmax.

Did anyone have the same problem, if so how did you get the Playstore back?

I did a hard rest and the problem was still there no google account registration and no google play store.
