This is the Telkom LIT Android media box

Limited supply available am guessing for all upgraded / new HomeUNLIMITED on 8Mbps or 10Mbps customers. This means Telkom Direct stores will have it available 20th September. :wtf:

LOL looks like I am the first, it was delivered by Telkom to my house after signing up for a contract, they were lekker skelm I asked to buy the device on the R49 per month option and they said no they are unable to do that I need to sign a contract to get one.

Now the box does not even work.

What a disappointment.

it wont work until the 20th, you were not supposed to get one

But the standard has the ability to with - as far as I know - HDMI 2.0. Processing power isn't an issue, so obviously deliberately dumbed down for people to get the Pro. I just always assumed it did (it does HDR) :)

Nope normal PS4 never could do 4K.

Only HDR.

Which contract and service did u subscribe to? Did u ask specifically for the android box, or did they offer it to you? And u pay nothing for it other than the Telkom fees (adsl? Or fibre?) for the 24 month contract period?
 
I asked to buy it on the R49 per month option. Telkom Sales said no this is unavailable the only way to get the box is to pay cash or take a 24m contract for 10mbps adsl

Yes got it from Telkom Contact Center they delivered it to me. I have version 6.something but then trying to update it says it is the latest version.

Just a question - I guess use basic services

20mbps VDSL can, in fact, stream both HDR and UHD content assuming it's running at peak. Mine gives 19+ continually which is just enough for HDR UHD. Most places (ie Netflix) do recommend 25Mbps+ for the user experience and headroom - but I promise you my VDSL can do it.

Just a question - why would you need this box if you have the KU7000 ?

I have the KS8000 - on a Fibre line 50/5 and it streams youtube in 4K and plex works perfectly off it - Is there some service I am missing here - come on guys share :D

Android tv has more apps than Tizen OS, and this box has built-in Chromecast

I won't be buying it - I'm just playing :)

I'm actually very happy with the KU interface and it's far from the previous clunky and cumbersome smart TVs they used to have. Plus, as you say, internal apps stream UHD anyway.

Services you'd miss though are DSTV Now, DTSV Box Office and a few others.

And lastly, it's only R1,099.00

Yes love the Tizen interface.
For DSTV NOW and Box Office I guess this will be worth it and its not badly priced

Is yours the final model, I just noticed yours is TVB 100 not TVC 100.
